They may have it confused with the 2.4L VVT...I've heard nothing of a S/C version. While GMP may release a S/C kit for it (I would assume they will since there's one in the works for the 2.2L) I can't imagine they would have 2 S/C versions of the Cobalt...this just wouldn't make any sense .

GM is more then likely going to turbo the 2.4L for the solstice, that is why they left some parts on the engine like the oil cooler. with this turbo make it to the cobalt? who knows.

GM has released a statement awhile ago that they want to start to get away from SC motors. that is why the 3.9L and 5.3L have been created, to phase out the good ol' 3.8SC

If they do S/C the 2.4 I wonder how much a swap would be? Also do u guys think it would just be better modding the 2.0L?

The thing with the 2.0L is it is built specifically to handle F/I...stronger internals, lower compression, etc. It would be much easier to increase the boost on a 2.0 as opposed to a 2.4L simply due to how it was designed. This doesn't mean it isn't possible to mod the 2.4L to all hell but you're going to have to dig into your pocket more often than if you were to start with the 2.0L as your base .

Also, the transmission on the 2.0L Cobalts is designed to handle greater torque and hp numbers as the suspension, axles, etc. Overall I'm sure the 2.4L is capable of very impressive numbers if you're willing to put the money into it and if you're willing to invest it I'm sure it wouldn't be a waste .

no one knows for sure. It is a topic of great debate. Most would agree that a 5 speed could do a 15.5---maybe slightly faster. Soon we will know

i just noticed your sig , got a chuckle

just a note though , ive got a 68 el camino 327 4spd 4:10's , and a friend has a 68 SS 396/375hp 4spd 3:73's , and at the track ive beat him hands down every time , same with a friend that has a 66 elcamino 396 4spd and 4:10s , but for value for top dollar they would get alot more money than mine

if GM starts putting boost on the 2.4 it will have the same quaility parts the 2.0 does , plus the VVT , so i feel it will be a better motor in the long run

Patience sir, patience. I think he said he is running this weekend, I am for sure. So we should have my 700ft above sea level time and his 'way up in the mountains' time.

Due to the high Compression Ratio of the 2.4L VVT engine seeing it in its natural form boosted is very unlikely. The Twin Cam had a CR of 9.5:1 where the VVT is spushing 10.4:1. Even a post production kit from GM is unfortunately very unrealistic.

However the following isi the best bet of what you'll see as the replacement for the LSJ down the road. This article says "as much as 250HP" but most of the others say "at least 250HP." We'll know by NAIAS06 for sure though.

You bet! Unfortunatley Mother nauture has been extremely uncooperative. So I am just practising my shifting. Car gelt very strong on the way home today.....must be loosening up.

Weather for tomorrow looks okay at this point.....so cross your fingers and maybe the races will not be cancelled like the last tow weeks

Next friday is the last one for the year!

But didn't they just introduce a supercharged engine? 2.0 S/C LSJ?

Just out of curiosity isn't it hard to tune a VVT Turbo?

Yes. Thats why Hondas & Toyotas are difficult to turbo reliably.
