its only a tick faster...that motor is a screamer though. the older ones had the 9k redline.
BTW these are magaizine numbers. if you want real world numbers from this car go to www.s2ki.com...
04s2k priced usually around $33K...
14.2 sec in the 1/4 mile at 99.9 mph (cobalt ss is at 14.4 sec)
68.6 mph on the 600 ft slalom (a little fast than the cobalts 67.2 mph)
118ft 60-0 mph braking (cobalt ss gets 113ft)
5.8 sec on the 0-60 mph (cobalt ss has seen 6.0 but mainly 6.1)
quick car. drives like its on rails. ive driven a few around town having used to work at a honda dealership. also scared a couple of salesmen in them as well...haha. i love the 6 speed in these things. feels like a videogame...(ive thought about gettin one myself but the trunk in these things are non existant.

Nice summary Dman, very accurate.
However, I don't think too many people cross-shop the Cobalt SS S/C and the Honda S2000. They are pretty much in completely different classes - one is a RWD Roadster with a high-revving N/A engine, while the other is a FWD Sport Compact with a Supercharged engine.
The specs are surprisingly close though - The S2000 slighly outhandles and out accelerates the Cobalt, but the Cobalt has better brakes and is significantly cheaper. I'm sure its also much harder to get a good launch with the S2K under less than optimal conditions; the Cobalt is no doubt an easier car to drive.
I also don't really like the fact that the S2K lacks any real torque. I like to have a car that at least has some ***** in the lower RPM's , which is where you spend most of the time, unless you're racing.
