2006 cobalt ls
What does everyone suggest for engine swap for 2006 cobalt ls completely stock right now. I am looking into swapping out the engine with something that has more power. What are the recommendations out there with an approximate cost?
Thanks for the help.

At this point these cars are so cheap it's not really worth the time and money to do a full drivetrain swap. When you figure the wiring, sensors, fuel system, engine, trans, ECU, maybe axles and hubs and pedal assembly... you'd be much better off selling yours and buying an SS. But it all depends on what your power goals are, how you want to achieve that power (turbo or nitrous or supercharge or maybe just head work and cams and a high compression engine), budget, do you want auto or stick, will it be a daily driver... there's a lot that's possible with enough time and money.
maybe convert it to rwd and get an ls v8 so you can keep the badging on the car the same. if you have good fab skills i'll bet it can be done for under 10 grand. find a wrecked f-body and pull the driveline out of it, cut the center section out of your firewall and reshape it to fit the engine and trans bell housing. do the same for the tunnel to fit the bigger trans. probably have to shift the pedal assembly over as well. fab up a custom k member and get some shortened a-arms. weld in the rear axle mounts, get a custom shortened driveshaft... you get the idea.
if you put about 15 grand into it, maybe more, it will decimate all...
