2008 cobalt ss/sc 2.0
Okay here the questions everyone is asking but, can't get an answer:
Are there spy shots on the 2008 cobalt ss/sc 2.0 ??? I am considering buying
the 07 in Dec/Jan time frame but, would wait if I could catch a glimpse of the 2008.

It's too far away. Try looking for spy shots maybe by the end of this year. If there were some, someone would've posted it up already and it would have been a big thread. Trust me.

All the places I've read / seen have stated that the CObalt gets freshened up for MY2008... I have heard rumors about the SC going away in lieu of the Turbo cars. We'll see.
If that's the case.... here's a possible model chain of command....
SS = Turbo
RS = 2.4
and then the base model's trim levels...
Don't want to get into the whole argument about the 2.4 and whether it's ok to be an SS.... I don't care if they called it the S&M or the RSS or the NQSS... you buy for the content, not the name...
Rant mode OFF..

If you wanted turbo so bad, you should have bought an SRT-4.

Personally, I like it being supercharged, as I've mentioned several times before.
I don't like turbo lag, regardless of how minor it is. I like instant grunt.

Hi winged -
"Chevrolet Cobalt: For 2008, the Cobalt will be refreshed. Hopefully the refresh will be enough to get the Cobalt up with the competition."

Little early for much more than that - edmunds has a spy-shot section - watch there.
best regards -

I'll probably just end up trading in my 06 when or if the 08 has a turbo or not in it. Or if it has a big difference in style that I appeal to more than the 06. Unless that will cost a big piece of change then i'll haev to stick w/ the 06.

YEah, I am totally happy with the cr being supercharged... I was just stating what I've read in various posts in different forums and just people talking.
I can see the argument for either, but like the different path that the Cobalt takes over the competition.
A friend of mine with an SRT even commented that he like the supercharging if for no other reason than teh "instant-on" of the power, rather than lag.
Still.... the only thing that stays the same is change... so who knows waht the future holds...

I'd imagine the refresh, if any, will involve changes to the grill and bumper. Engine combinations will probably stay the same (will the solstice turbo even fit in the cobalt??). There might be minor upgrades to the center stack too, but not sure if much since a new radio is in for '07.

Yea i think a turbo is out of the question. I did find this!
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.ph...=94115&t=94115
Check out what they say; AWD Cobalt. If this could be true, we posible could be looking at some other performance changes to put the AWD to use and maybe contend with the STI's and Evo's. WHo knows?!?!

Not just a Cobalt, but a Chevy vehicle. Chevy makes use of superchargers when they want forced induction. I really don't see a Chevy with a Turbo (other than diseal) coming out anytime soon.
As for AWD, I don't see that happening anytime soon. There was a possiblity when Chevy was considering a AWD version of the HHR, but with that dead, don't expect to see a modified Delta platform with AWD. Now I'm not saying Delta 2 won't support AWD, but then, no one knows what Delta 2 will be like, not even GM, since it is so far out that nothing they are even considering or trying is set in stone. Maybe a year or two before Delta 2 cars come out, we'll know more.
So basicly, all I see is some minor appearance changes, maybe swapping out anything that they are having problems with in the current models (possible clutch, or just break the clutch in before delivery). Also they will most likely offer more options and maybe even add another class or rename the classes again.
And this is very important to me, since I have already worked out the plans to factory order a '08 SS/SC with my dealer so that it will show up about 2 weeks before I get back from Iraq, giving my dealer time to install everything I want installed on it. So I do a whole lot of searching and research on it.

Well i wasn't getting my hopes up, but hey, it doesn't hurt to hope for a more powerful engine and AWD cobalt. I doubt it but u never know?!? I just hope that the cobalt hasn't seen its greatest days yet and that there will many more improvements in the future of this car. i have the 2.2 but my lease ends in 2008 so i am just waiting to see!
