25hp gain with intake: guaging interest
i just recieved some information on an intake that has been tested to a 25hp gain in the mid-power band, for the SS. this intake will require some slight cutting on the hole where the intake tube goes through the fender. the hole will need to be cut out more towards the front to fit a bend and pipe properly. i have no idea what price would be on this intake but i would say it would be on par with normal cai costs.
i for one am willing to do some cutting like that for 25hp and would like to see if we can get 50 or so others on the wagon for this, because they would require that many people interested to follow through with production. the company wishes to remain un-named but i can say it's one that everyone knows and they have quality products.
please post in this thread if you are interested in this so we can contact the company to let them know we want the product with the best gains, not one that had to be restricted because gm made a poor design.

ok just to show you guys it can be done easily, just as i said in the first post. it hist 25hp gains "mid-range"
well the subaru wrx cai made by injen does 23hp "mid-range" GAINS JUST FROM THE INTAKE
look at the middle line showing the highest power gains from their intakes:
that dyno is pulled directly from injen's website

who cares if it goes all the way through, do you see nearly a 70hp gain on the bottom end of that intake. with gains going from 2.5-5.5k rpm's appearently reasoning will do no good here, anyone that knows about cars will understand why this is so cool, others need not apply

Um...No its not. You speed more time accelerating there more than you do at peak power.
Anywho, dont show a dyno of a different car and expect people to be happy about it. An STI is turbocharged isnt it? Our cars are supercharged, they will respond different.
Also 25 HP to the wheels from a CAI is unbelievable. Unbelievable as in, I dont believe it.

25 Hp it could be true ...
Because the Injen CAI for the RSX Type S is good for 15 more WHP ... (171 to 186 WHP, which is 8.8% gain) http://www.injen.com/webpages/specia...est%20gain.gif (I have personaly own this very intake, very impressive in midrange too !)
Because the new Injen CAI for the WRX STI is good for 30 more WHP ... (233 to 264 WHP, which is 13.3% gain) http://www.injen.com/rs1201_mkt.html
And yes the WRX (not STI) Injen intake is good for 21 WHP more at midrange, which is 16% more.
So I think it could be possible to gain 25 WHP at midrange, and maybe 10 to 15 at top end.
Have a nice day !

Then needing 50 potential orders before they actually build it?
If it worked that well, they would build it and they would sell it. Even if there were only 50 guaranteed orders, a big manufacturer would not bother unless they saw the potential for a lot more sales.
They are gauging interest in if it might be worth their trouble to research one. In the meantime, trying to keep people from buying other intakes, which would lower the potential orders they might get.
"Our competitors get you 7 horses at the wheels, but if you wait, our super-secret version will get you 25 horses."
I have no doubt that Selfinfliction believes what he was told, but the claim is so far above proven intakes, that to blindly believe it will deliver (without proof) is a bit naive.

NO ONE IS TAKING ORDERS, THE THREAD TITLE SAYS "GAUGING INTEREST" THEY NEED TO SEE IF THERE IS INTEREST, NO ONE IS COLLECTING MONEY OR TAKING ORDERS. THAT'S WHY IT SAYS "GAUGING INTEREST"
good grief
the company just needs to see that their would be enough interest for cutting the cars for the other intakes. no one has the intakes and no one is taking money for the intakes. they are simply trying to find out if there will be a market for them so they know if they should pursue the design.

they will be releasing that one shortly, but because of the bends required it will not show gains like the one i was posting about. i think he said it was almost completed and going for production within a week.

I am interested in a good, quility CAI. I am just not sure about the increase of 25 hp. I will wait to see some real world results, which means other people buying these products before me and getting consistently good results. That's when I'll be all in!
