Pretty sure you run distilled water through it until it comes out clear. Then refill with your new coolant.

Staged, the NGK's were in the SC right? hes got the 2.4. maybe im wrong.

I've always put in whats came out. im fully bolted, no tune, but the car runs great with the delco plugs. as said above fuel filter, any will be fine as long as it for your car.

trans fluid. wont ever hurt to change it early, GM recommends 100K.

for a coolant flush, ive alwasy pulled the hoses off, stuck a garden hose in the lower hose and let the car pump fresh water through itself for a little bit, then drain it down and addd straight Dex-Cool. my hydrometer reads really close to 50% when ive done it this way. make sure you get a good 50/50 mix in there.

Ive done it with a garden hose also but i do think they say to use distilled water that way your not sending water that might have high counts of mineral composites in it just my.02 i could be wrong

The stock plugs will say AC Delco on them.

The SS/SC's stock plugs have an AC Delco part number & NGK part number.

Your heat range is prob a 5 versus the SS/SC's stock heat range of a 6.

My owners manual has the spark plug part number for all the Cobalts 2.2, 2.4, 2.0.

Also, the fuel filter part number is in there as well.

^^^ This, AC Delco makes an irridium plug that is like $7 each and you can get this at adv. auto parts. Ran them in my 90k mile '06 SS LE5 and they were awesome!

If you go to a shop, like a quick lube, they usually have a machine which will disconnect one of your radiator hoses and hook one end to the machine and the other to the machine at a different location. They then will use the machine to flush water and/or new fluid through your system til it comes out looking new. (usually 15-20 qts depends on how dirty is what we used to run when I worked at the local Pennzoil)

This is very good to know!

In my '06, I never flushed the Tranny and at about 90k miles it started giving me alot of issues (slipping and such)... Some people say 50k miles and some say 100k but I would flush it every 50k to be safe and do filter every 100k. (I was going to do the fluid and filter but I ended up trading the car in at 98k miles for a '10 LNF)

Fuel filter - I personally had just bought a Duralast from Autozone, worked fine, no complaints.

My swar bar endlinks also went out at 70k miles and it fairly common on those cars. Wouldn't be a bad idea to buy some used FE5 end links or hit up ZZP or someone for some Moog's.

Just go to oriellys and tell them what you need. Give them the year and trim of your car and they enter it in the computer and tells the them what is for your car. That's what I did.

very helpful post thanks. and are the ac delco plugs for the le5 also made by ngk? i just picked up the irridiums and i just see the ac delco number of 41-103 on the box.

and how difficult is it to change the trans fluid and filter.

No prob. I cant say for sure they are made by NGK, but its not the first time ive heard/read that either. Im sure someone on here knows though.

Typically the tranny fluid and filter isn't a big deal to do yourself, just messy. However I personally would have taken my car to the dealership or a shop to have done because there is no tranny dip stick like on a grand prix, silvarado, camaro, etc etc. There is just a fill hole/plug. I would not be comfortable guessing as to how much fluid is in there or how much to put in. I figure if the dealership messes that part up and something happens, I can go back to them. If I mess it up, well then im eff'd lol

Plus, tranny fluid/filter change only gets 80% of the fluid. If you go to a dealership, they will change the filter and do a flush so it gets 100% of the fluid changed.

I have a 2007 with 85k on it. My dealer told me I don't have to touch anything on the motor till 100 k. My motor is still all original. But my miles are all highway.

Check the spark plug.... u will see another part number engraved above the threads.

That is the NGK part number.

Also note, the box will say made in Japan.
