Advanced Intake Question (Not a CAI ? lol)

So like how come cold air is better than warm air? JK

I was just wondering something: If you put the 2.4l intake mani on the 2.2l, you lose bottom end power due to the longer runners of the 2.4l manifold. This i assume is cuz at low rpm it "takes the air longer to get to the engine" or somethin...i dont really know. but what i was wondering is why does this cause a loss in hp, is it because there A/F ratio becomes too rich since the 2.2l ECM is non-tunable?

The reason there is a loss of power in the lower RPM band is because the air loses its velocity due to the larger plenum and runners. Therefore, the engine cannot suck air in as effectively until higher RPMs. Less air, less power. Basically, you are shifting the volumetric efficiency of the engine higher and in this case I think for many of us, too high. Hope that helps some.

Yes is does thank you...but then why would the 2.4l manifold be better for the 2.4l engine than the 2.2l manifold?
