Anyone trading in thier cobalt for the 2009 camaro?

This is sort of a result of my other thread. I have been looking into the new Camaro myself a little bit but im not sure how I like the new design yet. The car has a very distinct look, but with the car coming stock with 400 hp stock It might not be the cheapest of cars to ensure. Anyways wanted to get your guys thoughts on this as well.

Ive never driven anything faster than my friends SS S/C cobalt. So I have no idea what anything 200+ HP feels like. The Camaro is allot heavier, cobalt is a lot lighter I have no idea how American muscle cars drive heh.

I've narrowed my next car to the new Camaro or the 2008 Audi TT Coupe. I want an all wheel drive coupe that has back seats. That kind of limits my choices.

^^^ oh man not the same car at all. Both are awesome cars, just not aimed at the same buyer @ all. Go for the new Evo if you want AWD!! If you want american muscle, comaro or challenger!

Ford apparently wants to bring what should have been the 2011 Mustang into the race too, by pushing it up to 2009. As "interesting" as that might be, they'll lose a lot of money that way. Apparently being number 4 in sales isn't BAD enough for them. =/

Well you are in for a treat. The SS is a great little quick car but there is a whole nother world of horsepower out there. You have to get your hands on something with some big horsepower just for the experience.

As for the original question. I don't know, it all depends on my family situation by them. If I'm thinking of getting married at that point I will probably be looking at something like a C class Mercedes for a family car. If I'm single it's probably going to be a late 90s Viper GTS.

Yeah dude, the cobalt is nice but there are much faster cars. I had a ride in my dads 02 vette' and OMG was that thing fast. I cant imagine a Z06 or anything else.

Nope, not trading it in. I am getting a company truck soon, so I will keep the balt and buy the SS camaro when it comes out. Also heard the camaro is coming out for the 08 model, and they are talking about a superchared version of the SS.

The LS7 will be in the history books by 2009 There are 4+ new performance LS engines coming ....3 are supercharged and all are 6.2's .

I wont be selling my 2005 SS , I doubt I ever will .....but I will be purchasing a new Camaro the 2nd year of production once all the hype and markups on the V8 cars calm down and their easier to come by . Thats not set in stone though , we'll wait for final production specs ....because there could be some deal killers for me in the production car . Most interested in the weight for 1 , I passed on the GTO due to its weight . 2 , if this car has frail driveline parts like the 4th gen it could be a deal killer . Their sticking us with a IRS , it better be a stout rear end and not brittle POS rear like they straddled the CTS-v with . I hate the fact the wheels are getting so big too ...production wheels on the V8 cars are said to be 20" wheels ....yikes

Hmmm , looks aside , maybe I have more hangups at the moment than I thought

No. I'm leaning towards the 75' Chevette. I saw one today............I couldn't believe the piece of **** was running under it's own power. Rare car indeed.

Chevy dropped the ball with the camaro big time.

Here are 10 resons I dont like the car.

1 it dosnt look good at all
2 its going to be heavy
3 the INS on it is going to 2x what I pay for my balt
4 20s are stupid to come stock on anything Make the friking wheel wells smaller and put 18s on it
5 its going to be 10k more then a balt
6 its going to have problems geting 400hp to the ground big time. IRS is not known for its launch prowes.
7 did I say its ugly yet?
8 it will be 2-3 years befor you can get a V8 car for close to sticker ( Took the stang 1.5-2 years and GM dealers are vary greedy)
9 Its going to be a straight line car. ( that has problems off the line) So if your in to the curves give it up.
10 Its going to have GMs now famase (You raced it now go away) warranty.

Right its nothing new. But GMS warranty policy is. There clames are down 40% from 5 years ago. Mostly do to the fact that they now deny coverage to people that own there faster cars or any one they think might have raced the car at any time.

And the camaro is not going ot be any different.

They will be voiding warranties on this car left and right.

If your under 40 and own one you might as well just consider the car not to have a warranty cuz most dealers will not fix it if you brake it.

WE love imports because they spend money on testing and R&D that US companys have to spend on hourly wages and health care.
The problem is not the auto maker but the country as a hole.
We have no public health care so companys like GM have to pay for that and then you have people like my brother that would be happy to work for 18 an hour instead of 6.50 at walmart but cant becous the unuons say they have to pay then 25+ an hour and cant fire them if they suck at there job!

Its not all GMs falt but there not doing much about it ether.
