Anyone who's installed exhaust/header/dp

I'm thinking about FINALLY putting on my header/dp and exhaust this week or next and I was just wondering, for those of you that have done it yourself, is it best to go out and buy the "jack stands" that you drive up? That's kinda what I'm figuring but I just wanted to see what people have used.
Any other tips regarding the install are more than welcome.

Either one will be fine. The regular stands are nice to have though when you do things like brakes.

i always use a floor jack and regular jackstands. i've tried ramps before, but they never clear the bumper, and jackstands work just as well, plus they're adjustable.

thats why u put a piece of 2x4 before the tire so the car can climb onto it and onto the rack

Good stuff guys. The reason I was wondering was because of clearance (like you guys said) and if it were more stable than ordinary jack stands. Anyone know the price of them off hand?

I got a hydraulic jack and two stands for ~$25 at Walmart.

BTW, the stands are perfectly stable. The car won't go anywhere while you are underneath.

I used ramps for my installation, i back up the driveway and point the front of the car downhill on the driveway and drive the front end up, this way it gives a ton of space underneath the front. My jack stands don't can't get as high as my ramps.

That's what my plan was. How hard is it to get around everything down there? About how long will each one take?

I don't know how all the headers out there are set up.. But my vibrant header had a little piece for smog that i couldn't get around the coolant hose.. So what I had to do was unbolt that enough that I could get that piece in front of it, then bolt the coolant hose back down.. uummm.. and I don't know if you want to resell your exhaust.. but if you drop your control arm in the back, its really not that hard.. one bolt and it will come down.. then you can remove your stock exhaust. I cut my exhaust off.. and wound up having to drop the control arm anyway.. cuz I couldn't get my 3 inch cat back over it.. a big part of that is because i couldn't raise my back end up enough..

Thanks man, I will. Hopefully (if life doesn't get insane) I can work on it Thursday or Friday. We'll see. I'm pretty excited though
