Big Gulp Mod
I think i posted in the "what I did today thread" but I don't see it. Maybe it's waiting for moderation or got modded cause I said a bad werd. Oh well. In every car I've had for the past 17 years I've done a similar mod. Mustang, Crown Vic, Towncar, Cavalier, etc... Of course in those vehicles I didn't also have to add an armrest as well.
Yes, I drink in my car. No, it doesn't get in the way of shifting (I just don't keep a cup in there when I have to shift a lot)
the cup holder <$3 from Walmart, they are typically used in boats.

Love the work. Very unique and will get copied.
But wouldn't that drink be in the way of your arm while on the shifter?
Not much of an arm rest if you can't rest your arm.
Man I need a 3D printer. We could get some many cool products going. The cupholder is seriously flawed in this car.

The nice thing about this mod, is if you are driving around town and shifting a lot, you have the option to just not keep a cup in it, you can even flip up the arm rest. But it gives you the option to use it for long road trips when you may shift into 5th and not touch the shifter for over an hour. Or just toss junk in it as needed. If you tend to drink 12oz cans, they are secured very well and recessed enough that they don't get in the way at all.
The armrest itself is actually more in the way for me, as it bothers me that the hand brake hits it. Still worth it to have an arm rest and a cup holder for me.
If anyone wants some other pictures and a brief rundown of how I did this, let me know. It basically is just cut a hole and put in the cup holder, but there are a couple of tricks that make it easier.

I found it was hard to shift with my cup in the holder today...
but it was fine with a lg fast food drink lol
I didn't take pictures while I was doing it but I can get enough together to do a write up. It's mostly tools and hole placement and a few tips that help get it centered and a perfect hole.
It's hard to see because of the pattern of the holster, but there is already a gun mount in those pictures lol..
This might make it easier to see.
