"don't want to sound ricey"
bought a n1 muffler and wants to angle it out
contradicted yourself a whole lot there bud.
i too love the angled look...the thing is cars do that to reduce the amount of bends in the exhaust plumbing...i'm sure your exhaust scomes up over the axle, and to angle it would add in 2 bends where right now there are none.
if you have a cat, it probably won't sound raspy.

they aren't called 'fart cannons' for a reason.
i had one on my old 02 lancer with a 2.0 4cyl and it wasn't raspy at all, but i had stock cats/resonators still, if you have those it will give you a nice tone to it. the intake on my lancer was louder than the exhaust once i got into high rpms.
i thought about putting one on the cobalt but decided to just do a muffler delete and keep the stock tip.

Well I tried shining the magnaflow tip but I also like the 4" tip I get from the n1 but idk I only spent $15 on the n1 but I may just put it on my wife's cavy and leave my catback alone

me personally, i love the angled n1 look. i love it on evos, stis, s2000s, anything, i haven't really seen many cobalts do it, but i'm sure it looks fine. I would do it if i was gonna do a muffler, we'll see once i put in the catless downpipe how it sounds if i want to put in a muffler or not.

completely stock exhaust, ebay straight through muffler. if you are catted with a resonator i'm sure your muffler will sound fine
