Bringing Canadian Cobalt to USA
I've never imported car before. I'm going to fly there and drive it back.
I have the letter directly from GM stating it conforms with a few exceptions.
The biggest one is the SRS indicator apparently doesn't conform. I talked to the Customs and border people and they said it MUST be corrected and I must show receipts from a GM dealer *no indies* that teh work has been done before they'll allow it in the states.
Come to find out it's just the passenger occupancy in Canada shows pictures *i'd like to see if anyone would upload one* vs USA with the ON / OFF indicator. SMH really? This is THAT big of a deal to conform?
Does anyone here with experience know if that's absolutely the only difference?
How about the big old SRS stickers on the face of the US sun visors, do the Canadian ones have that?
Other than that it appears all my ducks are in a row and it SHOULD go smooth at the border......

Interesting, my car came over from Canada a few years ago. I couldn't tell you anything about the process since the dealership I bought it from would have taken care of all of that. What I can tell you is that mine still has the picture thing instead of the on/off for the airbag.. I'll try to go snap a pic in a bit, just gotta find my keys and hope the battery is got some life left

I think I got it all figured out. It appears the only thing that the CBP will really look at is the letter I got from GM. That letter specifically calls out the passenger occupancy indicator as NOT being in compliance with federal crap. Sooooo that'll have to be changed in Canada before I hit customs with it.
