I figured I'd share this, and just state how it either pisses me off that the dealership is trying to trick someone into buying this, or that the dealership is full of morons that dont know **** about Cobalts.

I do like the carbon fiber fuel rail cover though. Anyone know where to get one?

Hi, this is my first post, but I saw how ridiculous this was and had to say something about it. All you have to do is just click the Order a CARFAX Vehicle History Report link below the VIN, and it says 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT.

If it was a real SS, then it would say something like this 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT SS SUP CHG. I just went on the dealer site by my house and pulled that VIN for the car for sale to get it to say that.

I just think it is funny and you really can't feel all that bad for the new owner of this car when he buys it thinking SS and didn't do his homework like a previous poster mentioned.

its a used car dealer, they arent experts on every car under the sun. they saw the ss badge and figured it was an ss. move along now, nothing to see here.

Exactly, like I said, im either pissed that they're trying to pass it off as a SS to make a few more bucks, or I'm laughing my ass off cause they got screwed. 8000$ for a 05 SS sounds about right too (I know, it's sad, KBB says 9K) so I think they believe this is a true SS.

we could be here all day stating as to why its not an SS. SS has lips on both bumpers, all leather, power windows, locks, engine is not a 2.2, supercharged, stearing wheel has radio controls, wheels are 5 lugs, in 05 they were only manuals, speedometer goes to 160mph. Seriously, we can go all day

too many ways...

the foglight switch
the base stereo
the brakes
the speedometer
the seats
the lug count on the wheels (2.2's are 4 lug)
the auto (only 2.4 SS's came in auto and they will say VVT on the valve cover)
the power windows on this car (they were an add on all SS came with factory power windows)
the fact the engine says 2.2
The fact parts of the interior are light grey. Ive never seen an SS with light grey interior

and other ways lol

and it was/is an LS

Correct me if I am wrong but should't a dealership check the vin before they buy it from some fool or take it as a trade, and then if they do so they would know it is a base model, if they know it is a base model then they would be in big trouble selling it as an SS. Somebody who is not as enlightend as those of us on this site may just see the SS on the back and buy it from the dealership without a thought that they were being lied to.

Sometimes these cars are worth more to dealerships as they help get traffic on the lot. Such as a young kid wanting that car but his parents settling for something a lil cheaper or maybe a bit nicer. Several of the dealerships I worked for would do this. If the car is clean even if modded a bit on the nasty side it helps get people on the lot. And that half the battle.
