Buying a LSJ
Nope valve tick is very bad if thats what youre actually hearing. That said a headjob isnt the hardest thing in the world, staged07ss made a very helpful howto for a head rebuild, if it comes down to that. Which it shouldnt.
Details on the cars? Are they stock? Modded? Riced out? If they have monster or shocker stickers on them i would steer clear lowkey

What ever you do... do not follow ZZP's recommended fill amount.
They will tell you 6 oz. For the M62 on the SS/SC it is 3.4 oz.Wayyyy to small.
For a stock car go with 0.035" gap.
For your basic modded SS/SC 0.032" works.
OP, remember you want the largest gap possible w/o spark blow out, so play around with which gap works best for your car. The gaps I provided are guidelines.

So i ended up panicking at the last second and backed out of the sale. I'm just going to deal with the tC through the winter and maybe try again when having a car isn't so important, considering i need to get to and from school and work everday. Pretty bummed out im not going to be driving a LSJ for awhile, but it will give me time to save up some more money to get a decent one, and maybe even an LNF if im lucky

All the advice here is good. I would also recommend a compression test since these are boosted cars and a lot of times people play hard and don't take care of them. A compression test is an easy, free way to find out the health of your motor. Go to autozone, rent a compression tester, the test takes 15-20 minutes usually.
Also look under the hood for bolts that have wear on them. This could be evident that something was taken off, replaced, or modified.
