For a basic OBD2 codes I have a $15 bluetooth fob and the Torque app that ran me like $6.

Works fine for what I need but like all cheaper scanners you limited to the basic OBD2 codes and can't access ABS and SRS codes.

I mount an old smartphone on my windshield like a gps with torque on it for information the car doesnt provide. Nice cheap gauges that dont require modification.
So ya for the basics i would listen to cluelessk. It works well for what it is.

I see similar apps for all price ranges on the Play store. Is Torque the best in your experience? Is there a full-access/beyond-the-basics app for a low(ish) price?

Also, is there a particular Bluetooth fob that is best, or will any do?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I was thinking of getting an OBDII reader, but this sounds like it does mostly the same for a good bit cheaper.

Torque is pretty much the best, many of the others are just add ons to torque.

ELM327 tends to be a good model for most people, Amazon will have them for you.

Also bought the ELM327. Don't buy the cheapest one you can find. Some are knock offs and down't work.

And most cheap scanners won't be able to view all the information from the car.
