Catch can vs Breather filter
So what are the pro's and con's with using a catch can vs a breather filter and a cap on the oil return line on our intakes or any car for that matter?

I wish people would throw there opinions out on the matter. I personally had one of those oil catch things from lowes and it clogged up and oil got right into my intake.

You have to plug the hole on your intake piping, you cant add the breather right there, that would let un-metered air into the engine.
Plug that hole, slap the breather onto the back of the valve cover and call it a day. I've had mine like that for a year now and no codes...

Just don't do it.

Learn about what it does before you change it. Personally I'd go with a catch can and am planning on getting one in the future.

Get a catch can that has baffles and a filter media, I'm currently looking at options myself after finding a good coating of oil in my intake manifold.
Buddy with a fast SRT4 has one of these Boomba pieces, seems to have a good bit of baffling insite and are nice looking for sure. $106-124: Boomba Racing: Catch Cans
Found this on Amazon, looks like a quality piece with a bit of a baffle and a filter in it. $119.99: Amazon.com: PCV Oil Catch Can
Found this nice piece with a google search, has a large filter media and some kind of baffle for the return line. $179.99: Corvette Catch Can
There's also MPX's catch can, I've seen one reference to a filter and baffle but no picture, not that I'd doubt it's sufficient, I just like pictures Not really a fan of the cheap looking view tube and fittings for it, but they are functional for sure. $104.99 MPx Oil Catch Can

I found the breather to be the source using throttle cleaner and watching the fuel trims on a Tech 2. I removed the breather and installed the proper PCV hoses and it fixed the problem.

Old school diagnostic aid. It wasn't actually hitting the valvetrain. Just traveling through the baffle in the valve cover and into the PCV orifice in the intake. It didn't remain in the engine for more than 15 seconds anyways.

That wouldn't change your fuel trims. And if you are spraying cleaner in your intake, of course it's going to change your fuel trims. I don't think anyone knows wtf your talking about..

So where exactly did you spray? Because the way your original post read it sounded like the car had a breather in place of the PCV connection on the valve cover, and that when you sprayed in there it changed the idle. But your last post sounds like the PCV hose was still there and you sprayed it in somewhere else on the valve cover.
