Center console/armrest not for the SS?

I've seen that they make an armrest for the LS and LT models. I'm wondering why this wouldn't work on the SS model. I sure could use the additional storage and having to commute 50 miles a day...I sure could use the armrest. Anybody have this?
Its listed on this site http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt/accessories/

gets in the way of shifting, but for about 80-90 dollars you can order and install it yourself.

so other than that it will fit and all? You will still be able to shift, just not as comfortably right? My daily commute is pure highway driving so there really isn't much shifting at all, except for in town, but the armrest sits up vertically too.

Why do people keep saying that? I have an LT with a 5 speed and it doesn't get in the way for me.

Eh, maybe it depends on how far back you have the seat positioned. The SVT Focus came without an armrest too even though it was available on standard 5-speed Focuses.

Just go ahead and order the armrest; I think there's a how-to involving it.

I bought and installed the armrest in my cobalt SS S/C. Best purchase for the car... kinda annoying for the E-Brake... but shifting is perfect. It's in the best position to rest your arm on the arm rest and shift! If you have any questions, PM me... Oh yeah... you can install one in about 15-20 min!

I thought about buying one for my SS/SC cuz I like it in my LS. There's a how-to here:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/how-install-armrset-2183/

It shows how to install it.
The part numbers for all three kits are below:

19157353 - ARMREST PKG, (14.900) *GRAY)
19157354 - ARMREST PKG, (14.900) *EBONY)
19157355 - ARMREST PKG, (14.900) *NEUTRAL)

They all have the same pricing:
Dealer Price $63.00 List Price $90.00 Trade Price $76.50

Yeah I saw that the different color pkgs have different part numbers but these part numbers that I found on another thread don't match the ones that fr33k listed

it will never be in this cobalt either. saw a couple in person that had them but they all seemed to rub the seats. shoulda bought a caddie or lincoln if you wanted armrests. when i drive my arm never rests yet it never gets tired, why is that? maybe you soft arms need more protein in your diet.

Does the armrest rub the sides of the seats?

I installed an armrest in my 07 SS SC. No problems. When you throw on the handbrake the armrest tips up and out of the way (unless buddy is leaning on it). Mine doesn't rub the seats, but i could see if you were a heavier set person, it might rub the side bolsters. Nice little piece that should've come with the car.

It will definately bring up the comfort level of the vehicle. I have teh recaros in my car. It looks like it gets very close to the passenger seat. The only thing that I do not like about it is when you are needing to start at you are on a steep uphill, you will need to lift up the armrest so that you can easily release the ebrake. I can lift and release the ebrake with the armrest down, but on a hill in traffic, it is easier to lift up the armrest.

thanks! I read somewhere that somebody hated the armrest in the SS and took it out because it rubbed the seats.
Anybody have a few pics of the armrest in the SS/SC?
I'm ready to buy one I just want to make sure it doesn't rub the seats in case I ever want to take it out...I wouldn't want wear spots there.

I will try to remember to take some pics of mine tonight for you. You can probably look on the how to install thread and i think there is a picture of it installed in the vehicle.

I have a center console (as a standard in my LT) but I drive a manual and it doesn't get in the way of shifting AT ALL. If you wanted to install one, go ahead, it'll just take a little while to get used to putting down and pulling up the E-brake with the console down (it flips up so it's like it's not there if you don't like it when you shift, etc.) But other than getting used to pulling the E-brake with the console down at first, I have no problems with shifting while the console is down.

I was worried about rubbing the seats too, but I went ahead and did it. It has been about 4 months now and I don't see any wear on the passenger seat. That is the seat that comes close to the armrest.
