I got to check that out... that is local to me!

This explains the ads I found in magazines with various artists:
DETROIT - Chevrolet's close ties to American contemporary music are unmatched by any other brand, automotive or non-automotive. Building on this rich tradition, Chevrolet will sponsor a series of upcoming events and promotions that reinforce the brand's standing as an American cultural icon.
"Musical artists have recorded more than 200 songs about Chevrolet," said Kim Kosak, Chevrolet general director for advertising and sales promotion. "Music and Chevrolet are linked in celebrating the freedom and creativity that is deeply engrained in the American character. Our marketing tie-ins with the music industry will take advantage of this natural synergy."
Chevrolet's music-related promotions include:
Partnership with Conde Nast to sponsor "Fashion Rocks," a fusion of rock star glamour and leading-edge fashion on Sept. 8 at Radio City Music Hall in New York with a two-hour Fox Network airing of the event on Sept. 26. Artists such as Beyonce, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, OutKast (Andre 3000-member of OutKast) and Black Eyed Peas are scheduled to perform. Chevrolet products such as Corvette, SSR, Cobalt, and Equinox will be displayed at Radio City Music Hall, and incorporated in a display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland as part of a Fashion Rocks exhibit. Also in connection with Fashion Rocks, Chevrolet will sponsor an eight-page insert in the October issues of 12 Conde Nast magazines chronicling the brand's longstanding relationship with music and American culture. Chevy also will sponsor radio, outdoor and online ads touting Fashion Rocks, will hold a hospitality reception the night of the event, and will sponsor the Fox broadcast on Sept. 26.
Title sponsorship of the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 on Sept. 11 at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, a NASCAR Nextel Cup race featuring musical artist-themed Chevrolets including a paint scheme inspired by the rock group KISS on the GM Goodwrench Monte Carlo driven by Kevin Harvick. The KISS car is a joint effort by Chevrolet, GM Service and Parts Operations (SPO), the rock band KISS and Action Performance, Inc. In addition to the KISS-themed Monte Carlo driven by Harvick, Artist Sarah Evans will team with Tony Stewart in the Craftsman Truck Race, LeAnn Rimes will partner with Michael Waltrip and driver Dave Blaney will partner with country sensation Big $ Rich. Ron Hornaday will compete in the No. 2 ACDelco Monte Carlo during the Emerson 250 Busch race on Sept. 10 and Matt Crafton will drive the No. 6 Goodwrench Silverado during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 200 on Sept. 9. All three of the vehicles are sponsored by GM SPO.
Sponsorship of the Country Music Association's 38th annual CMA Awards show on CBS on Nov. 9.
For the third straight year, partnering with Rolling Stone magazine to produce a 2005 calendar that pairs both established and emerging musical artists with new and vintage Chevy cars and trucks. The calendar will be bound in more than 1.5 million subscriber and newsstand copies of the Oct. 27 Rolling Stone "Car Culture" issue, on newsstands Nov. 11. Among those who will be featured in the 2005 calendar are Big $ Rich, Brandy, Julie Roberts, Xzibit, Cherie, La Oreja de Van Gogh and Shirley Manson.
