It's that fox news mentality and the communist-phobia that makes ppl think think they can stop social evolution. America is a young country. Socialism is tried and true in many older civilizations, most notably Europe.

That's because at some point in probably I wanna say the late 80s early 90s, news became entertainment rather than actual news reporting. I used to be really big on educational channels like discovery and history and science channel when I was a kid (more so discovery channel cus thats all we had with basic cable growing up) but now its just piles of drivel. I hear my mom downstairs on the weekends yelling about how they have evidence that big foot is real because programs on discovery and history keep telling her that. All this reality TV based bullshit on discovery as well, it rots your brain.

I agree. I grew up on the discovery channel. Now it's getting more and more fake.

Last years shark week was a major let down. The megalodon episode did me in. I was disgusted.

there is a difference in social programs and socialism. i dont know about you, but once a doctor starts getting a measly paycheck from my w2, i sure as hell would rather die than let him do a serious operation on me. there is so much inefficiency and lack of responsibility in government employment. it is not across the board, but still profound

i think the anti capitalism movement is more despicable. as you already stated, we are all greedy, but giving the government more control wont fix that. things wont just be sunshine and butterflies because the government is "theoretically" trying to do the right thing.

no politician will ever rid us of a monetary system. they have it made for the rest of their life. why would they ruin that??

A couple things...

1.) I'm not totally opposed to using any foreign sourced part, if its a quality product and NOT counterfeit which I'll put in my #2. I do like all products I buy to clearly state their place of origin.

2.) I am vehemently opposed to purchasing either passively or blatant counterfeit intellectual property. Things that come to mind (from my DSM days) were carbon copies of MHI turbos, GReddy, TiAL, HKS, Apexi and the like. These copies have had major impact on those businesses on top of the recession.

3.) To point #2, I would always be very wary of giving away IP to a Chinese manufacturer. Speaking from a couple personal experiences, once that IP is there its game over pretty much if the product even has a glimmer of commercial viability. Perhaps for super low-run parts like like a Delta chassis shifter this isn't a concern.

Anyways it looks like I will be making a post in our section about where each product we make is made. I doubt other vendors would follow my lead but if you guys really care you will pressure them into it. From the things I've seen lately there has been a lot of bait and switch going on.

I'm just going to throw my two cents in, being I am one of those 20 year olds people like to look down on.
1) I have been working since I was 15, to buy what I want with money I worked for. If I have the choice, I rather keep my money in the American community. That is where I live, right? I do understand the whole global economy thing, but when it all comes down to it, does anyone really have each others back? Which leads me to my next point
2) People these days show nothing but greed. Like stated above, everything is materialistic these days instead of realistic. I see more people living in a run down house/trailer that is barley standing, because they rather have the newest Benz, and that 75 in plasmas screen. I make OK money for a 20 year old, but I understand the value of a dollar, and work for what I have, and am content with what I have. There is no reason for me to go out and try to buy everything top of the line just to impress someone else. I don't know what is happening to this country, It kinda sickens me how materialistic people can be.
3)As for the government and news, I don't even bother anymore. It is a complete waste of time. I was more into politics when I was 15/16 then I am now at 20 and can vote. The news isn't news. Not sure about people in other areas, but in my area, the news pertains to what happened to the football team, or a stupid festival going on. That's news? I used to care, but it is just a disgrace these days.
