Cleaning valve cover and m62 and Timing kit swap

Hey i'm pulling my motor to swap into another car and was gonna clean it all up real nice while its out of the car. Any tips on basically polishing the valve cover and blower? I used some steel wool on the blower in one area and it did okay but wont get some of the darkness out of it. Does a drill with a wire wheel work well? And is the same process okay to use on the valve cover.

Probably gonna paint the fuel rail cover and the cover that goes over the ignition coils. What color do you think would look good on a red cobalt? I think i'm gonna stay away from the generic color matched cover lol. Thinking maybe a graphite color.. is plastidip good for that or should i just clean them up and spray paint them nice.

Just looking for some ideas let me know what you guys think. Also anything else that would look good all cleaned up and or painted.

Also gonna do the timing kit while its out since it hasn't been done yet. Any tips on doing this or is it pretty straight forward. I can get it at advanced auto (where i work) for roughly $120 with my discount.

Thanks for the input!

Please dont ever plasti dip anything on the engine. Do it right the first time with paint or get it powder coated. You can never go wrong with black

A degreaser spray helps clean the valve cover. If you want a rough finish, just scuff it up. For a smooth and glossy finish you need to sand it finer.

I want it to be bright aluminum again. Not necessarily smooth and glossy, but really bright and clean.

If u sand it then i will be easier to keep it clean. Its gonna be harder to get dirt and dust off a rough finish. I wire wheeled and sanded my m62 and my buddy just cleaned and sprayed. Imho mine looks way cleaner than his. Extra work but worth it
