Help

If you see him again, please ask him what RPM does he launch at and what is the tire pressure.
Also, if he runs this fast again, could you take note of the air temp and humidity.
I've run twice (stock) and can't get anywhere near these numbers.

Also please ask him at what RPM does he shift and does he get into 4th.
Thanks

Damn man those are some awesome numbers!!

The best I've seen is 13.9, and that was in an Ion Redline. Seems that inexperienced drivers are trapping high 14's, good drivers are getting 14.3-14.7, and the expert guys are getting 13.9-14.2.

So for someone to get a 13.5 @ 102.9, they must be one hell of a good driver!!

I think he holds the new record for fastest Cobalt SS S/C.

Sounds about right. Amazing the difference a set of really sticky tires makes. My guess is that he's launching around 4000 to 5000 rpm and shifting at or near red-line (based on the dyno charts I've seen posted the SS makes power all the way up).

Those M/T "drag radials" are more like slicks with tread cut in them (at least the ones I've seen). I'd bet that he's cutting low 1.8 or even 1.7 60's with those. A set of decent tires alone will knock about 1/2 second off your ET.

sup well a cut out makes a big differnce on turbo/superchager cars!!! but the key to his time s is his traction!!!! he had M/T dr's anyone that has driven one of these cars knows how they are on traction i test drove this guys car when it 1st got in but i wasnt about to pay $29,000 for it! Well this guy did ;p; suck to be in hawaii cuz they knew it was the onlyone here so the put a big price on it!

No way he ran those times, How could he has been doing almost mid 80's in the 1/8th but only acheive 20MPH more to 100 with another almost 5 seconds more of time to get faster?? If those numbers were corrected he should have an even better time then 13.5. More like 13.2 , 13.1.

WRX STi's doesn't even get moving that fast w/o a highly skilled driver. I call BS until slips are provided. Then I will be a believer.

Although stickier tires will help off the line traction and R/T times it doesn't seem to make sense.

What was his R/T times. Under 2.0's? They would have to be in order to get into the 13's because his HP sure didn't get him going that fast down the road.

Please make me a believer

Actually those numbers are right in line with numbers my car has run on drag radials when it was closer to stock. With the proper sticky tires even a stock SS (or SRT-4) can toast an STI or EVO on the 60' 1.9 60's with a stock EVO/STI on street tires vs 1.7/1.8 stock SS/ SRT-4 on slicks.

As for running a better time... that's the thing about slicks... you do loose a little bit from the top end. But you generally make up for it and then some on the bottom end.

And Reaction Times have absolutely NOTHING to do with what your car runs E/T wise. I'm thinking you're getting R/T and 60' confused. If I got a 2.0 R/T, I think I'd have to find a new hobby...

Plus you have to remember that being on Hawaii, the track has to be real close to sea level... and if it was a night race, the temp and humidity would probably be just about perfect for making horsepower.

didn't think about the sea level issue. In this case it makes it about 15% more believeable but still you have to account for the fact that no slips are provided which is his word against yours.

SLIPS Please!!

you guys in hawaii must have the first cobalts SS's that have been on a boat. hmmmm...unless maybe the SS's float! that would be a hell of a selling feature against the srt-4, they could be all "ours float...theirs dont" only at GM

Don't say that, you know what else floats, people will take it the wrong way...

Actually, I saw on another forum that a marine stationed in Italy got one about a week ago, if I remember correctly. I wonder if he's the only person in Europe with an SS, that would be awesome.
