these are production numbers givin by GM. 6.4 sec 0-60 is good for mid 14 unless the gearing is complete crap and starts losing top end power. mustang gt's last model got 0-60 in 5.8-6.0 seconds and 1/4 is 14.1-13.9

i find it interesting that the Redline has better official numbers from GM than the cobalt, maybe due to weight?

anyways, GM posted 14.7 i believe with the redline and someone already has achieved a 14.5, so you guys should have faith that a good driver will get it down more. not to mention the cobalt will have 18's, won't it?

It also lists weight as 2806 lbs. which seems really low to me. With all the conflicting info out there its hard to judge whats right until the car actually comes out.

good call, can't really judge anything until it's out, although you can rely on the fact that it has a kick a$$ motor in it

In the October '04 Car & Driver, they took an Ion RL 0-60 in 6.1. 1/4-mile in 14.7 @ 97. I would expect the Cobalt to match or even beat that. Their top speed was drag limited to 141.

And according to the RL forums, someone has already driven a stock RL to 14.5 in the quarter.

it takes time for actual times to come out... cars have to be broken in, factory freaks have to come out, people have to learn to drive them/adapt to a new car, etc. hell, I drove my car for 6 months before I got into the 15's.

Wait until someone throws a set of DRs and lightweight wheels on the front. On my SRT that is good for .3 to .4 seconds in the 1/4. Though the SRT makes quite a bit more torque down low, where the additional traction can be put to use.
