easy to steal? i have a key sitting at home cut exactly from the original and it wont start the car because it doesnt have a chip in it. im pretty sure a hackjob hotwire wont get around the fact that theres no chip in the ignition.
and besides why would anyone steal a cobalt? drive one off the lot and it drops like 10k lol

Well, there are multiple mechanisms that make our cars particularly difficult to steal (not impossible). including the passkey system, the etched serial #s on the glass and different undisclosed locations for the vin number, as well as the vin on the engine, computers, inside the dash, makes theft alot less profitable when the components are vin matched to the car, and traceable, not to mention onstar a form of lo jack.

the only reason why civics get stolen so often is because the parts so interchangeable..
92-00 civic, del sols, integras, preludes... friggin 20+ models over 20 years... you can swap half the parts/ all engines into the eachother
