The SS SC's are keeping their value well imo, the lt/ltz/ls not so much they are hella cheap. Ive been shopping for one for the last couple weeks and used ones are going like 15k to 17 abouts and new they still want 21k. Theres always the negotiation but I saw a new 06 with 1000 miles for 17500. of course they may ask a lot but not get any buyers. The New ones the dealer tells me omgz it msrps at 24 but....today we want it gone soo 100 over invoice at 21,xxx i laugh..and say call me when you want to make a real deal. it will be like when apple released the intel macs. at first the old tech was actually gained value because people were scared the new ones wouldnt be as good..then once they released and pwned the hell out of the ppc's the old stuff was selling dirt cheap. Im hoping that happens to the SC so i can get a good deal on a new 07

probably to make the car more popular they sold the cars awhile back when being introduced to rental car companies for a $1 over whole sale, so now the market is crowded with cobalts

GM still has alot of "old world GM" vehicles in it's line up, turnarounds will take a while, but they're getting there.

Just look at semi-old cars like buick t-types... a regular buick regal isnt worth crap, but throw t-type on there and the value skyrockets. I'd be willing to guess the same will happen with "SS Supercharged"

Even if it tanks more, I got a decently quick car fully loaded for 17k with no miles so there is no complaints here. For under 20 grand total with mods I can hit close to 300 HP so I'm happy.

I was just wonderign why so many cobalts are going for so cheap!!!
People are talkign about ss/sc's with 25K miles selling for $14,000??
I remember just back in April you couldnt touch a used cobalt with 25K miles for under 17,000....
Is it because its winter and nobody wants them now? Just seems like they are depreciating a little more than expected.

Odd. trade in Value of my car a few months back with 35K miles was 15K. Guess part of it is supply and demand. Also keep in mind, a lot of people are waiting for the Turbo too and don't want the SC.

GM is in much better shape than it was a few years ago. You don't hear anymore talk about bankruptcy do you? The loss was one that was necessary for the turn around. GM is shedding alot of the excess in order to turn profit later. The news link doesn't tell the entire story.

resale value is also real low on anything right now because of how bad the U.S. economy is right now.
why is everyone so concerned about resale value, did we buy these cars as an investment??? no, we bought it cause they are a decently quick car that can get 32+ mpg and with some mods can get 250 without blinking an eye. sure other cars in the same class can do this aswell, however they also have the same low resale value

REIGN? Did you read my previous post to that? While that IS bad, it isn't the whole story. Remember GM is doing alot of buy outs and cutting off the excess, this loss is part of it's return to profit in the future. 2 years tops.

Its supply and demand. Unfortunately since there are so many LS/LT cobalts on the market due to fleet sales there is little individuals can do to affect the price.
Fortunately for the SS/SC, they are far far fewer in number and in the hands of individuals not big companies. Someone who is looking at cars in this class knows the SS/SC out-drives its competetion, they just don't want to openly admit it. They are bandwaggoning the car into the "cheap domestic and crap resale" category and getting away with it. We owners should stand up for what this car is worth and not accept such pitty sums for a car that is easily top of its class.

in general, american cars will have **** retail. take ANY american car. then take a comparable import. by comporable i mean pricewise. look at the resale values of each using the same mileage, options, etc. and see what's better. guaranteed in almost every isngle test the import wins.
