How much of a pain in the rear would it be to convert an automatic transmission to a manual? Not a big fan of an automatic transmission, didnt buy the car it was a gift in 06..

People have posted this many times on CSS.net. I originally had an automatic 07 LT, but traded it in for my manual 06 SS. It would cost a ridiculous amount of money for a tranny swap, definitely more than it would cost for you to trade in you car for an SS or even a manual base type model. If you like Cobalts, trade it in for another, if you don't, buy a different car that has a manual. That's exactly what people told me when I asked how much a tranny swap would be haha. But if you already know this and want to undertake the financial costs, it is possible.

Ya know thats what i thought, lol my bf has been on my ass about wanting to swap it to a manual tranny, but my cobalt has almost 200,000 miles on it, would rather just trade it in, or keep it for a project car, I didnt think it would be worth the money i would have to put into it.

With 200,000 miles your better off just getting a car with a manual. If you do the swap and plan on selling the car with that many miles, it will be a loss.

Run that car into the ground. Not going to be worth much and definitely not worth changing it over.

Yeah, I'll play broken record and say that the swap would literally cost more then the car's worth at that many miles. You're looking at a couple grand even with the cheapest parts/labor.

thats weird... cause on my saturn it was pretty simple, provided you A) got all the parts or B) had a donor car..

more of a remove/replace aspect... you could even just put in the other computer ha
