Cracked windshield already.....argh
This sucks. Just had my car for like 3 weeks and I already have a large crack near the top passenger side. It's like 12" long. Anyway, not sure if I should wait to get it replaced right away or not. Don't really wanna get if fixed right away and then get another one right away. Anyone else have theirs cracked? Just curious if the windshields are prone to cracking easily? Oh and does anybody know how much a new windshield is?

Well, insurance will cover it. It will probably run you $250 if that's what your deductible is. If it was just a chip it would probably be free, but most likely not in this case. Call them up and they can probably recommend someone for you, and most places will replace them on your premises. (example: van comes to your house and replaces glass). Good luck.

Damn big trucks kicking up rocks going the opposite way. !@#$ing truckers. Insurance, not an option. The deductible is about the same as the windshield, so I'll just get a new one and not go through them. Plus, if I did go through insurance, they just rape me and jack up my insurance more. !@#$ing insurance scumbags.

Ive already had to replace mine, prolly 2-3 weeks after I got my cobalt, it sucked real bad. Damn trucks on the country roads. I just got mine replaced and it cost only about 100 for replacing it with my insurance so it wasnt too bad but it sucked that I had to replace it so soon. Hope your windshield issue works out man.

i dont think your insurance would go up because of a windshield, its pennies to them
my winshield was covered under my insurance and i had a 0 deductible
its different for the comprehensive part of your plan
call your company up and double check

If you don't want to replace it yet a good windshield repair shop can repair it for you. It will still be somewhat visible but should look better than it does now. The repair will keep it from going any further. How do I know this? It's how I make my living. Call around and use a windshield repair only shop. The quality will be much better than at a glass shop. A glass shop will only want to sell you a shield and will probably tell you it can't be repaired. Your insurance probably won't go up simply because of the windshield. However it does count as a claim and any other small claim in the next year or two combined with this one will raise your rates.
