I may have some good news. Theres a 2007 cobalt ss/sc with a bad engine about an hour from me. Asking 3500. If i can talk him down to 2800 i'll take it, swap motors and then complete the part out of my car which should get me close to a break even situation. I'll lose my aftermarket stuff, but i'd get another car for damn near free.

What do you guys think about that?

Do you know if your engine is was damaged at all? I know you said it runs, but have you checked it all over??

If the ONLY issue with the other car is the engine, and you KNOW your engine is ok, I think it sounds like a decent deal.

Are you setup to do the engine swap yourself??

Yeah my engine is good. It runs fine still and i looked it over the only thing i did was round off a pulley where it was rubbing the core support. And i've never done an engine swap but i think i can do it fairly painlessly. I've already had the trans out of it and dropped the whole subframe. Also had the blower off and stuff so i mean i feel like i can handle it. I have access to an engine lift and things as well.

If you can get a clean Florida car, that would be nice.

Just check the VIN

Good luck!

I paid 2 for my 07 with 58k, but people were trying to buy it out from under me for 2500, but mine came blown up with no exhaust, no dp, stock header and head already off, although all parts were bagged and labeled, also needs, front brakes, clutch, cabs, a battery... Basic wear and tear parts that needed done anyways. So I think 2800 would be fair if it's blown up and untouched since, depending on mileage and condition. I paid less than that but have to deal with finding lost parts, cleaning all the nasty gunk off everything, and putting it all back together somehow since I bought a used bare longblock. I also only needed a helper only for loosening the axle nuts, I did everything else solo so far.

Good luck friend.

Damn. I would have walked away.

$1200 because it was torn apart as some one else's mess. I would have let that one go. You'll have more than blue book invested in that car to get it running lol.

But it's NOT my dd yet, so I'm able to do it comfortably with time on my side. And I'll have approx 3500 in it when it's finished, including the cost of car.

Now if I took it to a shop, yes I'd have my ass handed to me and the car would probably be a loss.

Being an ex Saturn tuner boy, I think this project is a great leap for me. Haven't driven a standard in two years and I miss it bad. I've always wanted a ss Balt or irl, and it kinda fell into my lap. He had a zzp full exhaust with longtube header but he wanted a 1000 for it, so I said f u take that ish off!

I think I'll be okay. The only thing I can't find are two bell housing bolts he took off when he removed the oil pan long ago.

After I'm done buying parts ill post my finished budget, so if anyone ever wants to go this route, they'll know what they're in for.

Yeah i'm going to look at it and see what i can do with it. And yeah thats what i'm thinking! I'm hoping its a really nice and clean car and i can get a steal for 2800 and possibly break even in the grand scheme of things. It has a brand new borla exhaust on it too which i just found out today! It will take me some time to swap but i can do it.

Also i dont even know if the whole block is bad. Appearantly it broke a timing chain so i could possibly get away with a head swap. Clean my head up and then have a car with only 105,000 miles compared to my 140,000. SO i guess we'll see what happens after i go look at it!

what was your sn on 6thsphere? I did more reading than posting on that site, but it seems like all saturns are pipe dreams, and the money you spend innovating parts, could be better spent on a platform like the delta. nice fun dailys for cheap though. miss that 30mpg lol. wish I could find an 01 bumblebee sc2, id daily that **** with some new rims.

97projectsc2 and redhotftw!

My 97sc2 blew a couple motors on various nitrous and boost levels. It was satin black. I got 50mpg on the high comp build I did on it. I trashed it on its 4th blown motor.

Bought a 98 red hot and manual swapped it with parts from my 97. My welded mp3 had over 500,000 miles on it; thing was a tank. Redhot was low on agility, wings west, and 10th anniversary interior. I planned to always keep it as a daily, but an ******* came off the road and totalled it in my moms driveway. That began my falling into my LSJ.

I definetly didnt think i was inevitable to ice. Roads were all clear until that patch no snow or sleet had happened in 2 days it just happened to be a patch of wet road that must have froze from the frigid temperatures. **** happens i guess. Probably didnt help i just downshifted too right as i hit the ice.

Not if it's been salted.

Then it's sloppy and messy until it actually gets cold.

I'll vouch for the man, that ramp is a bit of a bugger. With the freezing cold conditions that we've had around here recently and the shortage of salt, somebody was bound to get hit.
