Disable Pre-Tensioners
Hey guys
I have done an overhaul to the interior of my 07 balt to comply with local lapping rules. I am currently running Bride seats, Schroth Profi 2, and custom cage. I removed the factory front seat belts and to no surprise the SIR light is on.
Has anyone been able to disable or trick the system with the Pre-tensioners gone?
Thanks for any help.

The SDM monitors a resistance value across the pretensioner circuit.....if it sees an open (high resistance) or even low resistance on the circuit it will set a trouble code and turn the light on........so unless you can find a resistor that matched the pretensioner, the light won't go out. And even then, I wouldn't really reccomend messing with that.
Only thing having the air bag light on affects is the airbag system.....it will disable the entire system.

I was trying to find the resistor value but no luck. The rest of the airbags are useless now since with the harness/hans the front airbag will not come close to my head even if it did go off.

uh, no it won't what? If you are refering to it disabling the system it most certainly will. If he removed the pretensioners for the front seats he is setting multiple dtc's not only for the driver....but for the passenger presence system. Taken right from dealerworld.....copy and paste
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
• The SDM commands the AIR BAG indicator ON via serial data communications.
• The SIR system is disabled and no deployments are allowed.

So I have found a solution to the problem. If anyone wants to know the details PM me. I dont want to put it out to the public and have people kill themselves.
