The directions say loctite bearing sleeve retainer.

Its pretty cut and dry how to press them in. I've never used a press before, my friend has who is pressing them in for me.

freeze the cabs overnight in your fridge. Then use green bearing loctite sleeve retainer ( if you have it) coat the arm and press them in. good luck with your install

troof. these arms look like a volcano on the inside when the old bushing is removed, particularly the older lsjs. but if you dont freeze them suckers before you press in, its hard, we make them a hard fit as the arms are so variable and we hate for them to fall out.

they will if the arm is bent and the hole is a mushroom oval.

lol/ not a lot. I do a very nice tow hook, spindle brake ducts and thats it. LG do headers, have some horrible cheap coil overs, some very nice Bilstein coil overs. GMPP do sway bar kits. Pfadt do some pretty fancy bushings and sway barrs etc, CCW are the most popular wheels, and Forgeline do some very good ones. LG does some offshore wheels as well that are popular. AP do a very nice brake kit for the C5 I prefer to the Stoptech stuff and the Brembo kits are very very expensive. I do a floating rotor for Brembo hats out of Coleman but I dont make any real attempt to sell Corvette stuff the market is saturated with a lot of people out there. Other than custom race car builds, cages etc, Devon relies on being a dealer for some of the folks I have mentioned.

One thing to consider if you track your car, dont even think about accusump go directly to ARE. Gary's dry sumps are the best and only real solution for track ready oiling. Every time we have a customer who decides to go the cheaper accusump route it ends up in tears.

Engine builders are even more difficult . The very best for the LS motors we have, Kurt Urban, has moved from Michigan down to NC, so closer to you. If you decide to go that route. My strongest recommendation if you need an engine is a crate engine from GM, and of course you know where to buy it lol Tom has the prices and the service/shipping down right.

I think I'm good with an engine. ls6, car only has 12,600 miles on it. I'm not going to accusump it, and I think that the ls6 pan should be sufficient for autoX. If it were a coupe with an ls3 I'd be worried. Less so on the z06 ls6.

I don't know if I'm going to make it back to Roebling this year. Probably won't get to CMP either. The Calendar looks really full. Probably won't even think about there until spring.

John
with your updated pcv valve system
I have a question on my hhr ss I have recentley had a new pcv valve (located under the intake manifold)
replaced and the car has been running great.
Mine is an 09 automatic which has the add on electric vacuum pump to help with low vaccum to the brake booster in the morning.
It seems this pump runs all the time.
  • Would this pump create vaccum when it should not and possibly cause extra oil in the intake in your opinion
  • Would this Pump (which I am told is installed on all hhr ss's with autos in 2010) cause any issues with your setup
I can add or send a detailed instruction sheet of the add on that the dealer follows when adding this.

I would be pleased to read the information, email it to john@powellraceparts.com , thanks very much.
A vacuum pump is a good thing, drawing vacuum all the time even under boost is a plus and the LNF is designed to do that. It would do nothing bad and lots good, with our drain back seperator.Should you decide to buy an upgrade kit I would be interested in the feedback. As the inlet manifold PCV check valve ( in the inlet manifold not under it) is very robust, and I have never seen one fail, I wonder whats going on with yours that it needed to be replaced, or what is the extra one perhaps to do with the pump if there is one under the inlet manifold...thanks for sharing your experience.

Does anyone know who Powell is using for his powdercoating source these days? I remember he was getting powder from Powder by the Pound, but I believe he is using a different source now. I just wanted to check out the available colors, and did not want to send an email just to ask this

powder365.ca is who we use. I am pushing to move to Tiger, but its tough to change. We are finding the powders keep changing slightly, silver sparkle for example has changed three times in the past six months. its a slight change but irritating. darker tint, less sparkle or more. hard to define but different.
not sure why its so inconsistent. automotive paints can be the same way...

question.

what are the typical symptoms are CAB's being junk?

well, besides just going under the car and poking around with a screwdriver and a flashlight.

My car has 66k on it now and has been raced and/or driven hard for quite a few of the last 20k. so I'm thinking they may be shot. I'm getting a weird vibration and slight shake in the steering wheel at certain speeds. Trying to narrow down causes currently. Its not anything relating to brakes and the tires are balanced. so I'm at a small loss..

I dont have a really good way of identifying life of the stock bushing but your driving cycle sounds pretty aggressive and I would venture to say your trailing CABS are done for.

^^^^ this. Besides fancy black powdercoat or any color for that matter that goes under the hood or under the car, is often lost and not worth the extra effort and expense unless the car is a show queen. The difference between mirror blue and candy blue is not possible to really see once calipers for example are on the car for a few weeks, even washed up and show ready unless you get on your hands and knees to look. lol
