I ordered the YYZ v.3 springs in Aug and I just now got around to installing them this past weekend. Why do the springs have "v.4" stamped on them?
As for review on them.... AWESOME is the best way to describe them. My buddy and I that helped with the install were thoroughly surprised when we went on the initial test drive. I've had lowering springs from different companies on different cars over the years and these by far are the best. To be honest, I think the car rides better now than with the stock springs. Vertical motions are soaked up, yet body motions and cornering ability feels greatly improved. Impacts in the road (ie. uneven expansion joints, etc.) feel about the same as stock, which is fine with me because I was expecting that to be worse. Pretty cake install too.
John, great job on the design on these springs!
Now I'm looking to order the TCAB's to get my front end wandering issue (under hard acceleration) resolved. John, you might remember our email chain from the other month. Also, that Hardcore bar looks very tempting lol.

lol the guy doing the laser etching at Hyperco screwed up and put v.4 on them instead of v.3 Way to get lost in all this haha. Glad you like them, CABS will further improve your power down/accell/decel movement

just email gloria@powellraceparts.com she can arrange whatever you wish. cheers sorry for a website that doesnt do much. Maybe spend $ and make it right this winter.
Sticking my nose in the conversation.
Are you asking for the mounts for the automatic?
Are they made already?
The mounts I can buy for my auto base Balt so I can lower it and won't kill my axles?
#806
not for an automatic that deal is so difficult to do. I think dropped spindles would work best but thats a pita as well. the solutions cost so much money to work out, and then the cost to make it is totally not recoverable. I have spent maybe 40 hours dicking with it and no end in site. My automatic test car took off for the west so my enthusiasm for working on it has dropped. Randy O seems to have the best set up. BTW the NAPA and other replacement axles are totally not as good as OEM the grease and the boot material is inferior and on the race track these aftermarket axles last about half an hour. OEM for ever. Just sayin'.
#807
yes mine is automatic too....so what would you suggest to me for mounts...there are some DEA on ebay and amazon that has good reviews....Im not planning on supercharging or turboing...but maybe some exhaust complete work for a little more power, any guidance would be appreciated.. thanks

2 please. The original owner got the offset wrong on the front wheels and they juuuuust rub the lower control arm at full lock. 5mm should be sufficient to keep me out of trouble until I decide on new wheels.

will do, thanks.
Oh! Were those check valves for the pcv separators ever sent out? I promised the guy that I sold mine to that I'd follow up on that for him.

some housekeeping help please, TIA!
Mr Powell, do you have a web site that I can order from? TIA Also, would you make a recommendation to use your parts on an 08 Sport Cobalt/ MT that sees just daily driver duty. I have another car that is my hobby car.
I figure as my GMPP warr is over. I need to start thinking, car has 41k miles, about suspension upkeep/normal service intervals and the parts I would likely need to keep my Cobalt in good working order.
I have the clunk over low speed bumps. The last warranty service the dealer replaced the end links. The clunking stopped for a few months, but came back. I want to try to solve this issue and make sure I don't have other front suspension issues. If you sell parts that I can use, I'd be interested in supporting our "supporting vendors".
No abnormal tire wear from either OEM rubber and replacement rubber at either end.
Clunk from end links (?) is my only issue at present.
Steering motor (?) done on recall & dealer replaced 3rd-4th set in trans, reason = gear clash on up & dn shifts.
Otherwise, just my normal maintenance schedule performed. No aftermarket parts and no mods to anything on the car.
Cheers and TIA!
Tom

Powell doesn't have a functioning cobalt website, I like to think this helps keep his cost down. You can email Gloria for orders at gloria@powellraceparts.com she will paypal you an invoice.
Cheers!

Our t cabs are guaranteed as long as you own the car. Please note that used arms purchased from a wrecked car used that break will probably not qualify for free replacement if they are broken.

I have a lot more reading to do to catch up on this car's front end, and all the stuff all of you have found to be issues. I figure it's cheaper to fix what I have than go get a new loan with a new car attached. Although, if the BRZ/FR-S had come along in '08 .....( sigh.)
Cheers!

John, I still havent gotten around to installing your CABS. How often are the control arms too bent or serviceable to install the new cabs in after you pull out the old ones?

You were right. The difference was amazing. I left the Konis on full soft and the car loved taking the curbs and was even more predictable when crossing the limit a bit in turns.
The ZFR power was amazing as well, really able to hang with the Porsches now. (Much to their disgust lol)
Unfortunately I found out that the stock lnf transmission really IS the weak link when running ~450hp at the track; car only lasted about 12 laps before I lost 3rd gear and is back in the shop again, waiting for me to make a decision on where to go with the transmission. Right now I'm thinking Powell 4.45. Who has experience with this tranny that tracks their car with the ZFR or similar bigger turbo?

what we are seeing is a tooth lets go in third and carnage occurs as the broken tooth gets trapped and destroys the case and other gears etc.
by going to a higher numerical ratio, the torque curve/vehicle speed/gear selected changes to lower vehcile speeds using higher gears, and the trans has more chance of surviving the torque. The acceleration on the track is very good as well.
a close ratio set 3/4/5 is possible but very expensive. 4.45 is the least expensive fix, but the cwp is not availalbe from GM anymore. I have maybe 3 or 4 transmissions I can build as 4.45 currently and then thats it for the moment.
