Old lyme is about ten minutes from where johanna and i live. Crazy to think youve been to the same area before. Went to calllaways shop last year for private tour. Very nice shop. Rick Hendricks camaro came in for some stuff while we were there. If you are looking for ls heads from any model they literally have a wall of r and d heads they said theyd let go for a good deal.

Also told us they outfitted the mazda speed protege out of containers on some peer in long beach before they made their way to the dealerships. Quite the day was spent there. No test drives though. Sad panda.

just removed all my powell parts.. back to no XXX bar or V1 springs

that said, for being on the car for over a year (winter driving included) the springs still look pretty decent given they have seen their fair share of salt.

corvette yes but waaay too much money
BMW SO fat and CostOfRepair out of this world
Audi same thing
Mini; talk about getting fat what are they thinking
Fiat: u serious clark
Cruze. Please
Padlock any ideas here?
USED
SAAB lol. I did that, what a good move for me, useful and fast and good economy. parts fairly ez .
Sentra. WOW COR like nothing. Had to say this. Sowhen my ma at 93 y/olost her drivers license, she gave my dotter her sentra. So dotters hubby drives it. Like new, (rust proofed) I had to do brakes for him: 24 bux a pair of rotors, (premium zinced are 60) four qwik struts complete with springs and mounts are 165.00, control arms and tie rods, drop links 100 a pair. Car is a POS for driving but ifyou gotta get to work etc.
VDub Golf. Great buys/performance unmolested hard to find COR can be an issue.
C5 best bargain out there, 15k and less for unmolested never winter driven. Sox Fan knew what he was doing.
Subie/Evo: Unmolested. hahahahahah

so Padlock, say again. what you getting?

That would be an interesting swap, turbo lsj or blower?

like stated above, I'm looking into a 5.0 stang as it is really the best bang for your buck in the newer pony car market. I really did (and still am) considering a C5 vette but its rather inconvenient only having a 2 seater when my other car is already a 2 seater. some interior space and passenger seating would be nice to have. Simple bolt-on's and a tune put the 5.0's in the 11's easy and they don't handle all too bad either given they still have the straight axle rear end (I was expecting a lot worse on the test drive but was pleasantly surprised). I realize it won't outhandle the cobalt given you toss it on the twisties, but at the same time I find it a slim chance any stock blower LNF/LSJ will keep up with it in a straight line. Heck it probably will average the same MPG as my cobalt does with over 2x the displacement sadly enough

Even with that all said, I'm in no rush to sell the cobalt. I still like it alot and I have no real reason to take a large hit on it financially unless I can get a decent dollar for it, so we will see what happens.

Its funny that you mention the LSJ swap because I put some thought into it (that or an LNF), but it doesnt seem very cost efficient to do once I crunched all the numbers on it and made some calls. While it would be awesome having a full bolt on M62 LSJ (280whp) or being stupid and tossing a big tubo LSJ (375+whp) in a 2100 lb car, you're left with either finding a solstice trans to bolt-up (good luck on that one) or getting an adapter for a T56.

when it all comes down to the almighty dollar it really isnt any cheaper to get an ecotec vs LS1 thrown in it. I think we'd all say having a stupid reliable 300whp out of an NA LS1 is a better idea than running a M62 on its limits. That and I like the tuning options available to LS motors much more than what we have on the ecotecs

For the time being though, with all the money from the cobalt partout I'm likely going to be tossing a 16g on the stock 1.6 that is in it now. With just some minor tweaks in fuel mapping still on stock ECU I should be able to squeeze around 150whp out of it (which is 60 over stock and gives a similar power to weight as a stock ss/tc), until I can afford a Megasquirt standalone system which will bump that 150 up to 230whp or so where things start getting pretty fast.

I'll be doing some auto-x this upcoming summer and will be also purchasing some YYZ springs.

And since we are talking about LS engines and Miata's, shameless plug of a close friends build is posted below.

Is this the same John that ran John Powell Motorsport racing school?

I just got my latest corvette museum magazine and Kirk Bennion mentions going there when Jeff Gordon was a student and only 17.

I must have trained 2500 engineers at GM over the years. John Cafaro is one of the pre emininent designers every to survive the GM culture, he did the C5 , the new Impala and the new truck afaik. Kirk Bennion worked with him back then, Kirk is a super designer; all the folks at design staff there are pretty darn good, again considering the stifling culture that is GM.

Jeff Gordon is one of the best I have ever trained with; smart, sensitive, intellectual, dedicated, fast.
and a regular guy.

so yes.

Jeff Gordon was always my favorite NASCAR driver. That's so cool.
