anything i need to know for installing powell's YYZ v3 springs? between me and 2 of my friends,we have a set of sportlines installed in my old LS in a little over an hour. it was pretty cut and dry.

whats the non spring compressor way that ive saw in other YYZ threads? it didnt really give a statement on what the method really is.

jack under the control arm. loosen top nut (21 mm) before you jack it up. use the jack under the control arm as the spring compressor

they really are easy to install. its just a long job, you should remove the seats and lift the carpet up to avoid misery drilling through the wiring harness ( short cuts dont always remain short cuts) and you must spring the bux and buy a step drill bit ( Unibit) mine cost 65.00 dollars and is still good after many many installs. Cheap ones wont even last the job lol... the metal that GM uses the two sided zinc coated stuff, for crash beams and strutural stuff near seat belt anchorages etc is very hard and strong.

The HF ones do alright but you HAVE to go slow and keep oil on them.

So I received my YYZ's. I still haven't put my powell CAB's in but would it make the CAB installation any easier with the front struts out of the car? I plan on doing it on a Saturday, tare the car apart and install the YYZ springs, CABs and powell engine mounts.

Spring can't get here soon enough. All these parts staring me in the eye.

either way you should not attempt to install or change springs with the arms bolted up in position if you have trailing cabs; as the " over-rotation" the soft OEM trailing cab provides permits the arm to drop down to clear the ball joint out of the knuckle, then a proper spherical joint restricts that over rotation.

Therefore all the how to's I write that are provided, stipulate that the leading control am bushing bolts should be loose, to allow ease of assembly of the balljoint to knuckle and the strut to knuckle.

Biggest issue with installs appears to be folks not reading the instructions, or instructions not being written clearly enough for folks to understand. The other big issue with online forums and social media, as that most car enthusiasts spend money modding their cars, but little to no money on workshop manuals and special service tools.

I believe they are the leading ones. Im not to familiar at all with CABs. I have the instructions that Mr. Powell sent me. I haven't looked at them in a while but I'm making sure I know the easiest and best route to go about installing them.

Edit: I'm almost positive the new powell CAB's I ordered are for the rear of the control arms. Assuming those would be the trailing CAB

It may have been in this thread or maybe another one. I took the car into a dealership and my friend was the tech who checked it over but he said my CAB's were toast. John pointed me in the right direction and shipped me out parts haha

This is what mine looked like when I was trying to install my new Koni struts and YYZ's with bolted down control arms and Powell trailing bushings. Fortunately John answered the email I sent him at 9PM within minutes and after loosening the tcab bolts everything lined up wonderfully

Hmm. Last time I installed springs in a cobalt was probably 4 years ago. I don't remember having any problems, just jacked the front of the car up, got the struts/springs out. It was fairly simple. Me and 2 of my buddies had it done within about an hour.

Idk how much different a 07 ls suspension would be compared to a SS/tc

Practically the same but with disk brakes on the rear beam and better shocks and shorter stiffer springs to start.

so would it be easier to install the tcab's before installing the yyz springs?

I don't think it'll make a difference the order.

Yeah.. You have to take the arm off so it's easiest to do them at the same time.
