yeah we don't go every year we're in New York. but we'll pay a visit every now and then. i mean, it's not like it's going anywhere fast.
ey, ey, see what i did there?
the skylon tower is pretty cool though, or just find a place to have some drinks and chill for a while. be ready to spend money though, or not spend a lot of time there, cause yes just standing there watching the same thing happen that's been happening for years and years gets old quick.

I cannot say enough good things about John and Powell Race Parts. Anytime I've needed an extra piece or some directions John has been there with outstanding customer service and stellar parts.
Currently sporting a 2nd hand Hardcore bar, previous owner stepped up to a XXX, the car rotates phenomenally on the track. Off the track it is super manageable and makes commuting more fun.
Tossed in a set of Powell shifter base bushings last weekend, great stuff, everything feels crisp. Gates now have a hair trigger feel instead of that mushy feeling.
Then there's the tow hooks  back when everyone here was worried about the tow hook snapping or bending I bought a set. I checked the math, you can hang the car vertically with a full tank of gas no sweat. After mounting them I didn't actually use them for anything, I had planned on getting into track racing but never had the time to get in.
So fast forward to Fall 2011 11:00pm, I'm heading home after a long day at work and decided to take the 520 floating bridge home. I hit the bridge and all the sudden traffic is crawling on the bridge, I make it almost all the way across and find this guy parked in the right hand lane.
Turns out he ran out of fuel and was waiting for a buddy to bring him some. I happened to have a 6k towing strap in the trunk and decide I'm gonna try and pull this behemoth V10 F-250 up the east bound hill of 520. I get her all hooked up and a cop car finally shows up, he offers to push the truck, I told him "Nah, I already got her hooked up. I'll clear that thing off the bridge." So I hop in, take up the slack in the rope, and then find out that the car doesn't have quite enough traction to just let the clutch out and go. So I feather it for what seemed like forever but was probably 10 seconds, got her in gear and punched it, turbo at full spool through first, tossed her into second and kept on going. Got to the top of the hill at around 35 mph, pulled off and hopped out. Car was fine, strap was frayed about a quarter of the way through, 6,000 lbs strap was done. The dude in the truck jumped out and was so amazed I swear he was dancing. Even the police officer was surprised I pulled that truck.
So now I've got a 10,000lbs strap and a pair of anchor shackles in the trunk for the next time
Little side note here, I did at some point bend the rear bumper. Somewhere between pulling that F-250, yanking a tree so hard the rear end got light, and dragging trees around my dad's property the bumper got a little crease in the metal bumper bar behind where the tow hook is mounted. It was probably the tree

Holy ***** to the walls. Mr. Powell is an honor to see and speak with every time I see him. He is kind, funny, and god damnit he knows how to make my buy parts! He powdercoats them gold and flashes them in front of my face! This thread should have been done YEARS ago. Very good idea!
I'll post up my parts from him in the next upcoming weeks when I get some time! Great thread.
STICKY IT!

Ah, I forgot to mention the Pedders I bought from Mr. Powell right after I bought the car. They handle great, better even than the stock springs with stock shock absorbers. I've gotten so used to the way they handle that I forget they're in there half the time. I'd love to step into a set of YYZ v2 springs but it's not in the cards anytime soon.

Distillion had the last GMR head ( other than me I had the very very last one lol) but he sold the car and didnt part the head out (sob!) so.....I believe Junior (Euthanasia ) could do the GMR head exhaust port maybe even better; I did get a few more cfm with a hand port compared to the CNC port on the Superflow bench...
ok, I will look into juniors port.... thanks John.

Lol at yelloweye and scythe. Its amazing how ( apart from some weird online persona's) that the Cobalt community is a bunch of straight up guys and gals...
Yelloeye was the first to test our tow hooks going way outside the box. I have a warranty one that got stretched (!) but the welds and pin held and still come apart. I have to post pictures sometime. I think a tow truck operator must have done that, not sure what happened to the front bumper...

THROWBACK THURSDAY
Our race team built CTSV race cars for SCCA/Grand Am racing ( not the Pratt and Miller cars) on behalf of GM performance division. Devon Powell and Terry Borcheller won in this car in 2004 at Mt.Tremblant.
Building a C5 race car at the Powell raceshop
Devon was 2001 Grand Am champion in our C5 Corvette with Sunoco and GM sponsorship

Junior can do it. I agree shipping make me nervous. I have to go work, happy to be able to post some "inside" time attack photos. Between Gary Armstrong at ARE (Armstrong Race Engine Systems - Cast Aluminum And Magnesium Dry Sump Oil Pans, Valve Covers and Components For Professional Racing) myself and a senior brilliant GM engineer, we devised a dry sump system and Gary pulled it off, casting to finished product, in seven days. We had to do it, the test engines were not lasting, and we had to win that competition. It was a struggle. Went back to stock cams in the end, and got to 400 shaft horsepower in the end on Nitrous.
2005 test at Mid Ohio after a Grand Am event
early test paint. We did this for paint purposes to detect flaws in sanding prior to final coat, but left it this way for testing throughout the winter and spring, we dubbed it "Desert Storm"

Is that a lower SS/TC diamond mesh grille in the first photo???
Wow, GM had those grilles back in 2005. I wonder why they never made it to production SS/SC's.

The rails will probably be my next addition. During an autox last weekend a friend was riding with me and was getting his fingers pinched in the door jamb above the window due to the car flexing. Have you put a set on a sedan yet? any differences as far as installation between the coupe an sedan?
