This goes out to all of the negative posters. I'm getting disgusted with all of the negativity comming from Cobalt Owners. People beat brand new cars and install mods as quickly and half ass as possible and wonder why they have issues with their cars.

Everyone knows you can not get better performance for the price we all paid. First of all (for those of us who were smart) got a 0% intrest loan on a brand new car. This saves hundreds of dollars down the road. Most of us who are smart got at least a 70k bumber to bumber warinty. Even if you can buy a car for around the same price your not going to get 0% intrest. The lowest intrest I could see you paying is around 3% and as high as 12%.

There are many cobalts running 12s in the 1/4th and even more running in the 13s. Thats is pretty fast. Yea, the real fast cars that cost 30k+ new and other really fast cars like V-8s with mods may make you look slow but for how much we paid, and what class we are in you can't get any better then this. Everyone has to deal with BS sometimes when speaking to our dealers. This is just part of life, from my experances all dealers try to make cash and rip people off who are not intellegant enough to catch it. If you know your warnity inside out (search button = ) a dealer will realize your no joke and do exactly what they should. We need more postive posts about real things that are useful. With that in mind...Stage II should be here soon and then GMPP exhaust, GMPP manifold, Cobalts ROCK!

P.S. Keep in mind this place should be about tech. things and information to help everyone out. Not a woman bitch fest to cry and whine about matters you can't change. It's time to grow up and be a man. It's time to talk about the glory of the Cobalt. It's time to stop acting like your in highschool.

 

Maybe... Just maybe... It's time to take that to GM and let GM know that there fan sites are being ovverrun with negative feedback on the cars.

Perhaps GM needs to step up to the warranty cage and actually satisfy some customers.

Perhaps GM needs to review it's ohio build quality because of so many one off problem cars.

Perhaps... people with problems should continue to voice them so that way buyers doing research can make an educated decision even outside of the 0% interest deals?

Perhaps... perhaps you need to follow your own advice and as you put it.. stop being a "woman" about your problems with others and shut your fly trap.

 

I was smart about it, I was the only 19year old in my area to get 0% financing on my own, my payment in only 370 a month as compared to 475, so the money I save is going into the bank for performance. I love my cobalt, and thats what a test drive is for, you drive if you like it, then buy it

 

I agree but I will say this, I personally notice a certain class of people generally depending on the price on the car and the market of the car.

I have a friend who is used to the Jbody forums...cheap economy car that some people modify. Well he's interested in getting an G35, so he joined the G35 forum. Totally different environment. They answered your question...they didn't scream "search!"...a much more laid back environment. Makes you think why is it like that? I personally think cause of the class of people who typically buy those cars and the age range of the owners.

I personally joined RX-7 forums, very nice environment, cool people and helpful people. They weren't out to put down other members and didn't complain about things.

I think when you're messing with the tuner crowd, no matter if it's a Cobalt, SRT-4, EVO, J-body or SRT-4 (as examples), there is going to be that very competative attitude, very un-development of maturity that revolves around people. The people with G35s, I think some of them (like myself) realize it's just a car and not to take it so seriously. They are enthusiasts who like their cars for better or for worse and don't bash people cause they own a different car (for the most part).

As far as your post, I think you're correct. People just need to understand what they have and not try and make it something bigger than it is. You pay to play and you get what you pay for...that goes for anything in life.

I agree. Perhaps was used way to many times in that following post. Your right that people can and should be able to post their problems with the car. However its the way the do it. Sell your car, Cobalts are junk kind of talk just pisses me off. At any rate I'm glad to see some people can agree.

in all honesty, its one of the reasons i dont come around here much anymore...i hardly even visit other than to keep up with mods and how much power the guys are making. i think its got alot to do with the maturity level and the majority age of the people that come around here. i mean when this site first started it was great. the people were great and everything...alot different now IMHO...

 

I agree completely with your assessment of how class and age influence the way people act on here. I do find it amusing that people bitch non-stop about these cars having problems when they bring them to the track often, mod the hell out of them and probably drive them hard daily on the public roads- it's an economy car with a little power- not an all out sports car. lol On a positive note, I have had my car for about 8 months and racked up 19k miles- not one problem.

 

i agree to a point.. heck mines 2 years old with 34k on it not one problem. But to your girl bitching fest... ISNT that what the lounge is for ANYTHING?

i agree...but we would post more positive comments if so many of us didnt have problems. and whose fault are the problems? 90% of the time its the manufacturer.

 

I would call this forum "entertaining" at the most. Although I do have to dig through a bunch of American rice and a general lack personal responsibility I do appreciate the tech information that I do find here. Thanks to this site I installed my own GMMP exhaust and stage II with out any problems. Thanks to you guys, my daily commute is that much more enjoyable.

There tend to be two groups here, those who have/had faster cars before their 'balts and those who think their supercharged four bangers are the shiznit. I tend to relate to the first group.

 

You get what you paid for, a $20K economy car with a supercharger and a pleather interior. I'm sorry but most of the power train comments/complaints are the driver's fault, the cheap interior and rattling sunroof is what you paid for.

Is it a better value then a slow Civic Si, a used(who knows what happended to it) SRT4, Golf GTI?... I think so.

 

I agree with your comment. I have had mine since the end of April and haven't had anything break on it yet. I would also have to say that knowledge also will play a factor when you mod the heck out of a car and probably drive it hard every time you are behind the wheel and possably not keep up with maintenance like you should. You do have to pay to play, and maintenace on a modded car is going to need to be done more than a stock car will.

Had mine over a year now and the only problems with this car are things that I totally blame on myself. I have 25k miles on her and redline the car daily and still runs great. I bet the failures are due to improper tuning.

 

Acturally no I don't. I found one in maryland, an FD 1993 RX-7 TT 7k miles on a remanufactured motor...excellent condition. I can send you a picture if you want. Went there, test drove it and the guy was holding it for me...but I couldn't get an personal loan for $13k. Sucks but things happen for a reason. But I am in the market for a new project car...either an FC or an GSX/GS-T...just doing research right now.

I would definatly agree. As far as the finance charges. thats the reason I went with the cobalt I was 18 and got 4.5% Thats awesome for an 18 with no credit. And Don't worry I've made all my payments lol

Eh, it happends. I mean, I don't blame anyone who sells their car anymore. It's just that, a car. I used to be a die hard jbody guy and used to kind of snear people who put so much time into cars and then sell them...I now understand why. Everyone has their opinion on if a car is junk from their personal experience, it's how things work. Each car from the factory is different, one might last till 120,000 miles w/0 problems, one might not make it till 20,000 miles. It's ones personal experience.

Now, I had problems with my other car but I never bashed jbodies cause if I had issues, it was from me modifying, but even it wasn't, I still wouldn't bash a platform in whole cause every platform has it's good and bad. If they want to call it junk though, let them, might aggrevate you but just kind of have to understand that was their experience and us or you trying to defend a platform won't change his perspective.

 

Threads like this only fuel the fire unfortunately. You have to remember that this is a public forum and people will use it as a tool to vent their frustrations. If everything is working out with your Cobalt and you thoroughly enjoy it then leave it at that and be thankful you aren't in someone esles shoes.
