DisRespect...
So i was at the Track yesterday, and i was hanging with all the big boys. I had to be the cheapest and Slowest car there.. GTR'S, Bmw's 1's and 3 series. the ones with the n45 Motors. there was one twin turbo 350z. anyway they were pretty shocked when i ran a 13.1. One guy goes thats good...for a cobalt.. once i told him i was on winters and not on e85 like him he shut up. I always lined up with the said 350z at the line and was very close to beating him... the expression on his face was priceless... as he tells me good run man...and never ran his car again...
But this isnt the real story... So about my 5th test run in a got a check engine and started freaking out. NO ONE there had a OBD II reader so i was like i cant check it. my interceptor wouldnt read boost but my Analog gauge was.. So i freak find the nearest auto zone and drive there to by a OBD II reader..As im on my way there i stare at the interceptor and go ...Damn im stupid... the damn thing reads codes.. so i get to said autozone and find out the code and that my map is dead.. i go into the autozone to try and order said part.. and the guy behind counter does the usual. Make, model, year, Engine type.. and here it gets funny.
He goes, SS so 2.4. And im Like no the 2.0 turbo right there. He looks at me with confused and dumb ass look(the best i can describe it) and goes really? Why? that thing is must be slow.. my buddy has a SS 2.4 and it would really smoke your car... I look at him right back to see if he is serious.. and he is really serious... I was like i do have the turbo version you know that right and even if i had the supercharged version he would possibly stand a chance. This guys goes no that engine is way to small you must get great gas mileage. And i say i do get good gas mileage but your buddy would lose. He goes do you track it. as he is looking at through the window.. Mind you i have numbers all over my car because i was at the track. I was like yea i do. He was like imma call him now if you want to race. So i go is does he have some type of forced induction or something..and he looks at my with that dumb look.. then i turbo or supercharger or NOS... he was like nope none of that... I go ok.. let me buy this and I'll be outside for a bit if your buddy wants to come and we can race for pinks...
He never comes out... How do this people get there jobs.... I just felt a little slighted with his dumb ass comments.... I was already a lil mad from the disrespect at the track...
Just thought i'd share.. there really isnt any kind of punchline or Moral..

I had a guy at a parts store when I asked about brake pads and rotors asked about my car. I told him I had the supercharged cobalt. And he said, "Are you serious, why would you buy that piece." So I left.

This. I'm getting 29 MPG I'm done racing. That's the highest I've ever had it and that's city driving. **** racing, gas is too expensive for that ****. And side note, there is no knowledge needed to work at any auto store. if you can operate a computer you can work at any auto store. Most of the people who work there think they know all their **** about cars but obviously they don't.

right? they honestly have no place for talking **** during their job. its their job to help you out and thats it. i guess i can understand honest confusion about bigger displacement ss engines vs a 2.0, but to all out start talking **** about races you'd lose is just out of line.

The way I always go about crap like this is to actually play along or play stupid. Troll them back. Be like, "Well I'd feel bad if your buddy came out here to race me and there wasn't anything on the line because he'd have nothing to win. Tell him we can throw up $50 each and the winner takes all". That way if the moron actually comes out, you will be $50 richer, and they might actually come out to race where if you throw out the "pinks" they will know you're not as dumb as they were hoping you were. I almost had a moron in a Ford Fusion race me for $50 because his 4 cylinder has more displacement so he must be faster than a lil' 2 liter. The only way some people learn respect is by getting embarassed in front of their friends and other people.

ah, this actually reminds me of this 2.4 ss that i'd seen rolling around where i work. anytime he'd see me driving he'd rev or floor it past me. well finally i catch him going the same way i am and he starts asking questions, like 'is that a real ss?' i'm like yeah...? asks if its the 2.4 sc. really dude!? i say its the 2.0 and he says oh yea i wanna get the turbo one.
well we turn and on a good street he just starts flying past me. so i floor it, catch up to him and fly past in high 3rd gear. next light he's actling like he beat me or something and didn't wanna rereace from a dig (and at the same time for that matter) what a TOOL!

I test drove a 2.4 manual and I didn't mind it I liked the engine in the upper rpms . But the price difference at least in my area was too close between that and the SSSC so I went with the SC

If you think the Cobalt gets disrespect, try driving the Saturn Ion sister car. NO ONE believes one can be quick period.
"Redline? Never heard of it." - I've never said mine was a redline, but use it as an example often of just how quick Ions can be
"Why would you mod a Saturn? Such a pile."
"Is this a 1.9L?" I get that all the time.
