Does the A/C suck in our cars or is just me?
in any other car ive ever had, if i had the A/C on full blast it pumped cold air like no tomorrow and i could actually feel it being cold. in my cobalt if i have it on full blast it still just doesnt feel like its enough. ive never been in another cobalt to test it out so i cant tell if its mine (wouldnt be suprised cuz ive had so many other stupid problems in not even a year)
so does the cobalt A/C suck?

mine works okay, but it seems that for fuel mileage a lot of new cars ACs only really work well, when the car is moving so it's at a decent RPM.
also, the AC in these cars does not hold a lot of r134a, so if it is even low by a very small amount, it doesn't have enough.
i think it only holds like half a pound.

The A/C in our cars definately isn't nearly as cold as in other cars I've been in. Used to be A/C in a chevy would grow icecicles on your nose in the middle of summer... was that way in my old 1991 Beretta... this new A/C sucks... to even get the car "cool" you have to have the fan on so high that you can't hear anything else.

The new R134 coolant just sucks compared to the old R12 stuff. My old S10 could get so cold inside you'd need to wear a jacket in it.

use the normal a/c mode to allow the a/c to run a bit and start cooling a bit of the inside air. Once it isn't as hot in the car anymore use the recirculate and it will just keep getting colder and colder. To cool off the air inside the car faster drive for about a mile with the normal a/c mode on and the windows cracked.

you are not alone, i had an older car where i could have sworn the AC was broke and it was still colder than my cobalt. the AC sucks!
i actually went as far as to tell the dealership and have them check it out. they said nothing was wrong. i asked to try out another brand new cobalt so they let me. just as bad.
i found the best way to get it cold is to put on the AC and the recurculatory air. works the best. oh and if your windows are down and its hot out, put them up or forget about it.

The reason the older vehicles was colder is because the coolant in it was a heck of alot better. But the new coolant isn't as good because the old coolant has been discontinued and is now illegal since a few years ago because of the smog or whatever you call it junk.

Ive noticed just on "A/C" the flow rate isnt all that good.
Hit that recirculate button, and it increases air flow by about double.
Ive also noticed (on my car anyway), you can have the A/C off...but hit the recirc button...and its like the a/c is on....

Definately use the recirc.... makes a HUGE difference.
If it blinks at you, its because it only works on floor and dash.. or something like that. change where its aiming and hit the recirc.

I have serious complains with mine. Holy crap here in florida I can start the car turn on the a/c and then recirculate and if the car is not moving. The freakin SS will idle horribly the tach will go from like 1200 to 500 in a split second. It attempts to stall and doesnt and then revs high to 1200 and then drops again and makes a complete cycle. I dunno what the heck is up with it. the car just doesnt want to run with the a/c on maybe cause its hot as hell in florida. But it really pisses me off when other people are like "whats up with your car why does it want to stall?" and I have to tell them the car can barely run with the a/c on. Any ideas?

I have the same issue.... at first i thought it was just from me hp tuning my car but i couldnt see anything wrong....... other then that for it to really work well ive noticed the car has to be turning some rpms to get some cold air. Not a big thing to me since I really dont care if it works well or not cause thats why i got the sun roof and stuff....

What is being said there is so True. I work wit many refrigerants And since R12 is/ was phased out to EPA standards and now our cars have the 134 and to me 134 just isn't the refrigerant that R12 is and with a small capacity ac unit its just not the cooling I was use to but it does cool also you can use the recycle in cabin and it will cool a bit better. Mine is cool enough and I'm going to be checking the pressures any way see it I can put more 134 in Makes it easy when you have this at work.
