Emergency brakes dragging
Well, I think on my version of the cobalt, I think the brakes are self adjusting...I could be wrong and somebody correct me if I am. But what's happening with mine is that when I disengage my ebrakes, they don't fully detract or disengage because I could feel it dragging. I have to manually disengage it with my hands by getting under the car. Is there something I need to grease or what?

nope there's nothing to grease, its the ebrake part of the caliper that is starting to seize and thanks to GM's mighty wisdom it is a common problem and only way to get around it is to replace the calipers that i know of

If I get them from the parts store, are they upgraded or better than GM's since these fleked out on me? And it's really bad because the brakes themselves are good its just the emergency part of it is bad...terrible.

I saw a bulletin for e-brake problems but it was usually for a complaint of them not holding. You could try it anyways.
The bulletin advised to remove the rear calipers and completely compress the pistons using the push and twist tool. Then to reinstall the calipers and pump up the brakes, then retest. Its worth a shot and an easy thing to do before dropping money on calipers.
