Engine Vin
i'm pretty sure it's been posted but i don't feel like looking through 100 pages in the search bar... i pulled my engine today and it has markings like it's a second engine to the car. my carfax when i bought it a year and a half ago says there was nothing wrong with it other than random maintenance. i don't really care that it IS another engine, i just wanna make sure it's a gen2 block... anyone know where to find the vin number on the engine? or if the part numbers on each individual part of the longblock would differ from gen 1's? all i need is one good answer and i'll not ask anything else on this. thanks

Engines aren't VIN-matched anymore.
You'll be able to find a production serial number on a sticker on the valve cover or engraved into the oil filter housing.
It won't tell you a damn thing though.
