exhaust tip question

Hey guys,

So, I'm curious about something. I have a GM exhaust tip on my GMPP catback. The GM tip has a straight, smooth inside (no holes). I've seen other exhaust tips that have lots of little holes inside it (resonated). I've heard a resonated tip will quiet/smooth the exhaust down a bit. Any truth? Just wondering about any sound differences possible between the two? I might re-do my exhaust, and I want to use the resonated tips if it'll quiet/smooth it out a bit. I've heard that it will quiet/smooth it down, but not as much as a stock muffler obviously.. Just enough to keep the harshness down. Most stock up-level cars use resonated tips (Corvette, BMW's, etc.)

Thanks!

My friend has one on his Ford Ranger i didn't hear it personally when he added it but he said it toned his exhaust down a little bit but he ran the exhaust pipe inside of the tip so now his exhaust piping runs out the end of the tip so the resonator doesn't work.

You have Touring or Performance? I cant imagine Touring being any smoother or quieter.

I dont even run a tip on mine...so when you get a new one you can send me yours.

I've got the performance. But, honestly, I think one of my mufflers might be semi-blown because it's far louder than any other performance that I've ever heard.. lol Got it used, so it's hard to tell..

When i went to a catted DP with my GMPP touring exhaust it was way too loud for me . I ended up putting the stock muffler on the end of the touring exhaust with a coupler and it sounded great . So good, in fact , that a couple of other members tried it and loved it lol. And to be honest , i didn't notice any performance differences at all . It was by far the best sounding exhaust ive ever heard on a 4 banger lol.

Maven ....I have a GMPP tip laying around that i have no use for ....i somehow ended up with three tip's....so if you want to pay shipping you can have it . I'll have to look but I'm pretty sure it's an angled cut.

Slant tip is where it's at. lol

Yeah, my one friend with a 2.2 has the GMPP Performance too. But he replaced the rear canister with a universal N1 cannon and it actually sounded better and smoother..

My Magnaflow catback came with a resonated rolled tip, and it's super smooth.......probably mostly due to the actual resonator and muffler though more than the tip itself.
