Gas Mileage

91-93 otc will not hurt a 2.2 engine. You will see a little better gas millage and a cleaner engine on the inside. Back when I had my eco cavy I actually saved money buy filling up with 93 otc. Yea it cost .20 cents more a gallon but I made that up with miles per gallon.
As far as my fuel econ I don't think I can't tell due the fact that I just moved from California with 91 otc to Washington with 92. On 91 I was getting 23-25 mpg and on 92 I get 26-28 mpg with avg driving. Well I guess avg driving for me is I don't get on it all the time but I don't drive like a grandma by any means and I would say about 20-30% highway driving.

i use 93 in all my vehicles. Its better than the 87 reformulated gas we have here. I notice also when I get out of the big city on a road trip and use there fuel somewhere else I get bette mileage. Fuel here in Milwaukee sucks ass

I drive a lot on the highway. With my intown driving and my highway driving together, I generally see about 25-26. When I don't drive much in town and only drive on the highway I get aroudn 29...which to me, is awesome since the car is still in break-in period.

Yeah, you wanna talk about depressing....
I was averaging 27mpg city and about 35-36mpg highway (traditional calcs, not relying on DIC, although it was reset EVERY fill-up and was never off by more than .2mpg).
NOW, I'm getting around 20mpg IF I'M LUCKY city and 23-24mpg highway. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong. I changed my spark plugs (they were fine when I took em out), changed the oil, cleaned the filter, AND checked tire inflation. NOTHING!!!!!!
It's all been since the jump in gas prices, so I'm guessing once again the stations around here are mixing in additives. This sucks...literally....sucks the gas right out of the tank and the money right out of my bank account!!!!

My car has less then 500 miles on it and im bout to fill it up for the third time tomorrow. I got the car wit 7.4 miles on it and i only put 93 from Costco in it. I probly get terrible gas mileage from revving it up to 5000k rpms most of the time. Gotta break it in hard to get the pistons to seal

I know but if you dont rev it high and you ride the car easy you wont break in the pistons. I dont understand why you cant rev past 5000 rpms. I remember readin someone said to establish a fuel map. Is that true? Would it be bad if you went past that a couple times?

Here is something I learned from a friend in the police force...
When they get new cars in, they immediately put the police equipment in and take it to their "break in grounds" They run the car for about half an hour at idle, then shut it off to cool down completely. after about two hours, they get back in the car start it up, take it right to the drag strip on their grounds and dog the hell out of them with a few hard passes on the strip. Then to break in the tranny really good, they do one last pass on the drag strip, get to the end, and give the brakes a good smashin. They brake down to 10mph very hard, then throw it into revers and Rev the **** out of them. and go all the way to redline in reverse.
Then they go, change the oil, trans fluid, and rear diff fluid to all synthetics.
This ensures that if the car is gonna be driven hard it better break during break in, not on the street catching a criminal, or doing a highspeed pursuit.
now, I'm not saying to go out and do this to your brand new ride, but the moral of this story is, if your gonna drive hard, break it in hard, if your gonna drive like a pansy, break it in like a pansy. BREAK IT IN THE WAY YOU DRIVE!
End of story.

I would diregard the above. break is is not how you dirve. Its to give the seals and things time to were in before you start putting alot of stress on the engine.
