Gas Mileage cause for concern?

Hey All.. all of you folks who've had their SS for awhile, post what you've been getting for gas mileage.

Just as a comparison, and I've not gone through an entire tank yet.. but on my Acura Integra LS (just a 4 cylinder), I got about 430km out of my last tank of gas.. (I'm in Canada, sorry about the km ).

Anyhow, I've got about 1/4 of a tank left.. and I'm only at like 230km or so, I think I'll be lucky if I reach 300km in the tank.. is this typical to what others are getting? Sure I know that the mileage is going to get a bit better over time, and I'm probably driving it a little harder then I should.. but I wouldn't think it would be 130km diff in the tank! With the price of gas the way it is, it could be a helluva lot more $$ then I thought to own this vehicle.

Thoughts?

PS: I'm absolutely blown away by everything else.. other then the gas.. I'm extremely happy with this car.. it's unreal!

you must be having a lot of fun to burn up that much gas. I drive 1/2 city and highway and I can get over 600kms per tank if I am easy on the boost (a few bursts of showin off here and there). If I am driving in the city alone and really pushing my car I will only get about 400kms\tank but seeing as your car is new perhaps you want to back off on the racing around until after you have broken her in

600km per tank? Holy hell.. yeah I guess in PEI there isn't that much 'highway driving'.. but if I can get 400km per tank I'd be laughing.. I'm sorry.. I'm having a real tough time believing 600km's per tank.. that's 33mpg.. wow. I'm thinking that I'm going to get roughly 19mpg out of this tank.. we'll see how it progresses.

I just found out what my payments are going to be.. so as long as it's not TOOO crazy.. I'll be ok. :-) Now for insurance.. ha ha ha.

As I said that is when I take it real easy and only throw in afew blasts of fun. Understand that I have had my car since Apr.5th and already I have 4000kms on it. I drive a lot for work and my incentive is to behave while I am driving because I have toooooooooo many speeding tickets and the powers that be want to hank my license again. Getting 600kms\tank is possible but I never said it was fun

Ive been averaging 23.3 mpg...I had 332 miles on the last tank...It costed me about $25.00 for 94 octane and that was 2 days ago @ $2.18 a gallon..but the tank on the SS's are relatively small...13.2 gallons on my fire it was 14.1 gallons and it costed me the same to fill up on 87 octane

I am averaging 31 mpg, all city driving so I don't see that being too hard to believe. Its all in how you drive.

That's some really good milage. When I get my SS, I'll probably average about 16 mpg because I'm gonna drive the hell out of it!

I drive the hell out of mine at times too, but conservitive is the key to good mileage. I bet I could pull 33/34 too if I was always good on the throttle.

All highway driving I get around 29 mpg. I haven't been able to use a full tank without gettin' on it a few times yet, so I assume I could get better mileage with more self-control. City driving I can average as little as 20 mpg, but then the car rarely sees 5th gear, also. There's just far too many people that want to race me. I'm 32 and have already had my license suspended once, so I don't really go out looking for races. But I can't believe how many cars pull up next to me revving their engines and pointing.

But yeah, I think the tank is only 13.5 gallons, so it's kinda small. I bet your Integra has at least a 15 gallon tank, so it would get more miles per tank then.

Could very well be.. my integra could have a bigger tank.. hmm.. I should look that up.

Well, on my tank I just filled up, I just got 304km and put in 44L (it's a 51.1L tank I believe), now again, I have to stress that it's all city driving, and yeah, I've punched it a few times fer sure. That and the fact that it's the first tank and will probably get better over time. I'm actually purchasing the car for less then I paid for integra (helps to have an uncle who runs the dealership I guess :wink so I can afford to put a few more bucks in the tank. Let's see how I get along with the new tank without driving like a madman.. any guesses to how many km's I get?

We only have a few GM dealerships here on PEI, and I just heard that there is only going to be one other one (a yellow one), on pei for like 6 months.. WEE HAW! I love being singled out.. ha ha ha.

Worst part is.. it's red.. bright red.. cop attracting red.. ha ha. I better be careful

isn't there a TSB for the cobalt/pursuit for an inaccurate fuel gauge?

We only have 87, 89 and 93 here in Maryland. It's about 27 bux a tank, gas is about 2.43/gallon for 93 Octane...

Ouch. $2.04 here, I only put $10 at a time in it though. Noticed a big difference with the weight of a full tank, so I only put 5 gallons or so in it at a shot. I get 5 days or so out of $10.

.....just filled up again at the same pump as last time and on 44.647 litres I went 520.2kms so good mileage can be had if need be.

I hate you. Better gas at a cheaper price. I would have to pay $2.55/gallon for 91 octane.

I know what you mean about being singled out. I drive the Black SS in Moncton New Brunswick and it's suppose to be the only one for the next while. I am experiencing the same issue with the mileage though. My last tank got 10.7l/100km (21.9 mpg). So I'm holping it's going to get better with time. I put about 1000km on it in my first week, so I can't keep this up I drive a mix of highway and city with a bit more emphasis on city. I'll follow if/when things change.
