Do you realize that a possible reason all those LSJ cars are blowing up is cause of the temperature difference? Colder air = more dense. More dense = lean conditions.

In Pittsburgh, we can have some crazy temperature fluctuations. Not to mention, if something else goes wrong on it (ie. fuel pump, fuel control, boost control) you could be seeing a lean condition.

But hey, it's your car. As long as you're prepared to shell it out to fix the motor, go without one.
I second this as well.

It's not a smart thing to do. Converting an N/A car to a boosted one is the biggest pain in the ass and you should be able to know how your car is running.

A wideband would help and a egt might not be a bad idea either if your going to push it to its limits

A wideband is more than just a tool for "tuning", it's a tool to know how your car is running and to keep you in touch with your motor if something goes wrong. It's insurance.

yeah i figure with how much everyone bags on the auto tranny for being weak, im gonna make sure its in good shap and see what the temps are after the turbo compared to stock and decide from there how soon a tranny cooler will be needed.

Honestly, I'd get a cooler now. I'm putting one on before I do anything turbo-related. A tranny cooler isn't a bad investment even if you're bone stock. Heat is the enemy... period. It's the first part going on my car related to the turbo project. In fact, I'm about to buy it in 5 minutes here... so I'll have it on by next week. I've done the research, so if you want help with it, let me know.
