Maybe you could say to them that you want an older tech to do the work versus some younger person. and older tech in age may be less likely to mess around than a tech that just got out of school or something like that.

I agree with speed racer in the fact that's you should tell the service manager/writer that you have noted the mileage and do not want your car test driven, or you will contact GM directly

I do disagree that there arn't techs who "joy ride" cars. While a proper test drive is needed 95% of the time after repairs, that doesn't mean they don't get on it when given the opportunity.

I've worked in several dealers and have seen it happen way to many times. Worked at dodge and saw a guy blow up an srt4 on a test drive.

I was guilty myself many years ago back when I first started in the industry. Now I just want to make as much money as possible and gtfo ASAP.

The problem with recalls/warranty work is the techs normally get paid at a discounted rate or hour amount for the job because GM is paying for it.

Therefore the lowest/youngest techs on the totem pole will be the ones doing the jobs because the higher up/better paid techs do not want to waste their time with low paying jobs.

It is those that you need to worry about

Stop posting all these horror stories ... you guys are killing me.

The dealer is not going to blow up my SS ... the dealer is not going to blow up my SS ... I'm going to keep saying this until it becomes true.

Maybe I'll take some time off from work and wait for the car while they do the recall.

There annual post count is my daily post amount.

I hate the dealerships. I love how niether of them addressed how the dealership techs called my eaton a turbo pulley and told me I had a turbo.

well they are probably just as dumb as the same guys who said that about your car but were too embarrassed to admit it.

I dropped my car off yesterday, and by the afternoon 2 of my recalls were done, and the other two recalls they are waiting on parts. Im curious to see if they drove the car or not when i go pick it up today, hopefully i dont find anything wrong with my car. Good luck OP, i was a little worried myself when i dropped it off, due to the fact a bunch of young guys worked there.

I see people thrash cars yes... is the younger guys at the place... the older ones are not normally bothered with these jobs...

I'm doing it myself once they get the parts.... Oh the joy of being related to a 32+yr ASE certified tech

I have a question about the recall stuff.. say you bring your car in and it has been tuned, when you leave will it be back to stock? Ive read posts with both outcomes its kind of confusing
