Sound clip pleeeeeeeease. lol. I'm dying to hear what one of these sounds like. I was planning to get the Injen, but if the GMPP sounds better than maybe its worth the extra $$.

I'm sorry I don't have a way to record the sound.
If noise is what you want you won't be disappointed. It is loud, throaty, and doesn't sound like "bumble Bees". It reminds me of 60/70's 454's-455's with open air cleaners and wide open throttles.

My dealer is cool. I spoke with the service manager before i put my intake on and he said it was cool warrenty wise, he didnt care. Also gave me the greenlight to install any gm performance part myself, which will save big money, and he wont void the warrenty for that eithier.

Oh well. There's something I don't have to spend money on now.

I know. That's why I'm gonna stay with the stock setup. If this car wasn't something I drove every day, then I wouldn't mind. But being that it is, I think the sound would get annoying after a while...

Hey everyone, just want to make sure we're clear on this -- the GMPP exhaust has a deep, but not obnoxious, sound at idle. You only hear the exhaust during acceleration -- at cruise, even at 55-60 MPH, it is nearly quiet (I haven't driven it up to 70 MPH yet but I expect it to be the same). Same goes for the GMPP intake system -- normal driving it is quiet, only when accelerating do you hear it -- at WOT it is "singing".
I just spent the afternoon taking out the air box under the filter box and installed some "Autozone" 3" plumbing. The factory '06 air box doesn't appear to be that restrictive -- it is a curved tube that is 2.25" at the point it connects to the filter box and roughly 3" wide throughout the rest of it with a flaired end just behind the headlight. Since I spent the time taking it out I have left it out for now.

At one point I was considering doing intake/exhaust... but hell, I have an automatic 2.2 that I bought for the purpose of saving money. I've already put too much into it with wheels and tires...

Common sense usually prevails until one needs to tinker. I too bought my Cobalt to save gas -- I also was impressed with an 06 Cobalt 4-dr I rented out in Las Vegas. I put 900 miles on that car in one day visiting the Painted Desert and the crater in AZ. It got terrific gas mileage and had no problem getting on the 70-75 MPH interstate. When I saw my first 2 dr version I went and bought mine. However I have always tinkered with cars. It's my hobby. I like the fact that Chevy/GM provides the performance mods as they usually fit better than aftermarket -- I probably wouldn't have installed these performance mods otherwise (mainly to keep the warranty intact). It also brings back memories of the good old performance days when big blocks were the "bomb" and you could get performance parts from the dealer.
Of course I could take on another hobby -- like bass fishing. Those guys buy $15,000+ bass boats and $1,000s worth of fishing gear to bring home $5 - $10 worth of fish. At least they're happy......To each their own.

See, I've never tinkered with cars. I just drove 'em. Don't get me wrong- I like them, I thnk they're cool... I just don't have the desire to mod mine. I'm more concerned with gas mileage and longevity than anything else, in this case...
Like you said, to each his own. I'm glad you're happy with the GMPP intake; it looks good!

And power gains from intake/exhaust are mostly in the top end of the powerband- my car is very, very rarely revved that high. Most of you would probably say I drive like a granny...

The GM intake is probably quieter than most other intakes. It really only gets LOUD if you really put your foot in it. Normal driving = pretty normal sound. You also don't get the hissing sound that is common on systems that don't have an airbox. There is a thread about this intake in the 2.4 forum also.
