hey all!
Hey guys,
I have recently drove the Cobalt SS/SC at the dealership and fell in love. Unfortunetly i cant buy it just yet, its a little out of my price range (i have a crappy job right now) but anyhow i should be getting hired for another job soon, which would allow me to easly buy the car. But i do have some questions about the car first.
Okay,
1) I heard the stock PSI on the car is 5. What is the max someone can put the boost too on the stock engine and can it be done without vioding the warranty? and wat was the HP outcome of the boost raise?
2) How reliable are these cars? My options are the new Honda Si, or the Cobalt SS/SC, they are both nice cars, but the quality of the Honda is better, i can already tell buy driving both.
My insurance isnt too bad its only $220cdn/mnth and i am 22 yrs old, so its pretty good. So if i could get those questions answered and some any other info you wanna throw at me, that would be great!
I priced the car out to $445/mth plus $220/mth insurance. (48mth Lease)
Thanks guys,
Jon.

Technically, replacing a stock part with an aftermarket part will void the warranty on that part only. However, dealerships like to void the entire car.
Yes 12 is stock. We have members running ~20psi which seems to be holding. The limitation is not the boost pressure, its the limitations of the eaton m62.

okay just curious on how they got it too 20? is there a boost controller you can buy, or how does that work with a supercharger? i can understand turbos, but a supercharger, no experience in.

On the Cobalt smaller pulleys = more boost to a certain point.
Not all supercharger = more boost from a smaller pulley though, some use bigger pulleys to make more boost.

The LSD has nothing to do with the tranny. The LSD stands for (front) Limited Slip Differential. The power goes through the tranny, then to the differential were it is distributed to the wheel with most traction, instead of spinning the outside wheel. Example: Your accelerating through a sharp turn, one wheel gets loose and starts to spin, the LSD transmits more power to the wheel with traction instead of spinning the wheel with no traction! I feel this in my bros RSX-S, it would definatly benifit from an LSD. Definatly worth the doe in my opinion!
