High Oil Temp

Was on a cruise today and was running the car hard today. I have my interceptor showing mid 220s for oil temp at the highest. You could definitely tell it was thinning out just by the way it sounded (cooler temps had no noise).

So is that a too high of oil temp? Mobil 1 synthetic. Right at 5k on this oil change, color dark amber (little lighter than a dark beer).

One of my friends suggested Lucas oil stabilizer (seen it in action in the parts store with gear turning demo thing)

Another suggested a different oil?

Neither thing your friends suggested will change your oil temps. It may make the oil a little more resistant to the heat but its still going to get plenty hot.

While 220 isn't really anything to worry about, the only sure fire fix is to add an oil cooler.
