How important is an air dam to your car???

So i live in canada, we just got maybe a foot of snow, i tried backing out of my driveway so we could shovel it, and my air dam broke off on one side. Now its hanging on the ground :/ It's randomly fallen off before too.. (i hit a deer last summer, they missed putting a screw back.) I was able to get it off and take it to the shop to get fixed. Im having issues getting it off.. im thinking of cutting it lol.
But Do i need this? Should i go and get it put back on or will my car be alright without it?

It does help with cooling but I don't know if it is really needed in our somewhat cooler climate.
This time of year it will have zero effect but it might be a different story come summertime.....keep an eye on the coolant temps

yes the air dam helps redirect some cold air up into the engine bay to help with temps. But aswell with the guy above me im not sure how badly it changes the temps. But we know the cooler the better.
