yes but it will require quite a bit of work, it will not fit behind the motor as it will hit the firewall, so it needs to be placed on the passenger side or else further back on the downpipe and have the possibilites of taking roadrash

but yes with custom work it will work

he probably wouldnt reach full boost til about 45k give or take, but when it would reach full boost it will be a beast, theirs a vid somewhere on streetfire of a turbo cobalt running a lil smaller holset and it wouldnt spool till like 4k but when it did, watch out. hes on here and has a thread about it, the turbos all the way in the front of the car, so pretty much it will take alot of work to do it, or money depending on if your all that good at fabbing stuff up.

In my personal opinion its to big for a street car. With the holset hx35 if flows so much cfm's that he wont need to run no where near 20 psi. I will make more power on the balt with 10 psi than the stock m62. I personally had my hx35 on my 12valve boosting 45lbs but then again I blew so it will go above 35 with enough exhaust gases.

it would be more comparable to say a garrett gt46 80 trim, another words huge. if youve ever seen the vid on streetfire with the white supra with the turbo sticking out of the hood while dynoing it thats the gt46

yes the 35 will go way above 35 but that the safe point for the cummins we have had them go to 60psi

so the turbo will work on his car but not be a good daily driver at all i bet he will be disapointed

how much fuel can these cars make to spool that size of turbo

is there any way to make it work
really the only reason he is looking into it is the price is right

so the hx35 are big for your type of cars
learning so much already

great site

it would be a fun daily driver if your into speed, and he is, if he had a heavy foot he wont have tires too long, you can always control the spooling just take it easy until you get going, it would be a beast at the track with some wide radials. id do it personally cause you can control it so it wouldnt be horrible, but when you want it you got alot of power.
if hes going to build id most def. bore the motor out and try to get atleast a 2.5 ltr. so like 80 over, if its possible im not real sure how thick the block is on the 2.0

I wouldn't doubt that the hx35 will go to 60psi but the damn EGT's would be through the roof and the life of the turbo would be short lived.

I was wondering do diesel turbo spool faster on gas or is the turbo a turbo
i know they have different blade angles when you get into it

i just perchased a bigger turbo for my truck but its from HTT
so i do understand turbos

my buddy told me who has the cobalt that diesel turbos spool faster on gas than a gas turbo does on a car

it all just depends on how much exhaust gasses the motor pushes out, so pretty much a turbos a turbo, generally speaking

That guy is me

I am running a WH1C converted to external wastegate. Basically a HX35. Spools about 4500 to make 20psi. Will NOT fit behind the motor.
