I cried today, well almost.

My stock clutch went out over the weekend. I was on my way home after going out for a beer on Thursday night. Some *** redneck in a F150 kept revving at me. He had a flowmaster and thats it. I smoked em and my friend was like "what the **** Trev. Your car doesnt feel right. He told me to put my car in 5th and floor it. I did. My rpms jumped from 2grand to the 7grand in a split second. He was like "**** dude, that clutch is done." On the way home after dropping him off I was driving so carefully and going up hill I could on go like 25 mph without my clutch slipping. I couldnt keep my car from revving up at up while tryin to keep my car moving.

I called up GM and had my car towed to them for the work. When the tow truck picked up my car I literally almost cried. So I am getting a centerforce dual friction clutch and 7.5 lb flywheel. Hopefully my ride should be pretty solid.

Oh and my car only has 21k miles on it too. Anyone on here have their clutch go out that early?

I got thecar with 12k on it. Should I get the aluminum flywheel?

went with a centerforce dual friction clutch kit and got a throw out bearing as well.

I never really beat the **** out of my clutch either. I never really launched my car anyway. And I have never been to the track either.

Its so weird that it went out so early. Sooo anywho, the guys at GM forgot to mention that the Centerforce kit comes with a lightened flywheel already. I was like, ok well it order it already then. The entire kit is gonna cost like 900 with shipping they said. And it will most likely be done by Thursday this week. Because the parts are being shipped still.

Why dont you let them fix it under warranty then? If you don't really beat the **** outta your car you might as well get a clutch on the house.

Things that wear out depending on driving habits (tires, clutches, etc) aren't covered under warranty

Yep. I know of people with the better part of 100k on their SS/SC and still running fine on the stock clutch.

Most won't, but they will if it can be proven to be a manufacturer's defect ...........which is a lot easier than most people think. 1) it wouldn't have lasted more than 5k or so and 2) the wear from a mechanical issue is generally different from the wear seen with poor driving habits.

Ya the dealership said they wouldnt replace my stock with a stock replacement because it wears differently based on the driver. Ya GM installed my Vibrant Header and downpipe as well.

Also, what is the best way to break in a high performance clutch like the one I am getting?

So how much did the dealer charge to install a clutch w/o warranty? They charge you up the ass due to the amount of labor?

My clutch went out at 7k And I only had the car for 1k, so GM replaced it for me after a bit of arguing

It is going to be "8 and a half man hours". I said "exactly how much money are we talking?" GM-"Looking at about 800 plus"

My mouth dropped and hit the floor. I am going to kill someone. Most likely the service manager.
