Upcoming Safety Recalls 13454 and 14063
Ignition Switch Replacement
Models:
2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt
2006-2007 Chevrolet HHR
2005-2006 Pontiac Pursuit (Canada Only)
2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice
2007 Pontiac G5
2003-2007 Saturn Ion
2007 Saturn Sky

As of now it looks like dealers can't even order parts for these until April 7th. And even then it look like it may be a slow process in receiving inventory to cover the vehicles out there.
Contact your local dealer for details.
Anyone local to CED can contact our service dept for what your options are at this point.

Man I hate dealing with dealers too but you better take care of it asap, cause you don't want the dam key to get stuck and have to leave the key in the ignition. Specially if it happends to you after the dealer has closed down and have to wait till next day. Just take it, they'll give you a rental and get ready to rack up the miles on the rental rather than your balt....

great, this is exactly the kinda **** i was hoping I wouldn't hear about. I swear if i have any trouble with my local dealer fixing this recall im getting a lawyer on retainer the next day. I can't stand having these uneducated morons touching my car, it's bad when you know who half of them are and what "technical" school they graduated from. I have not one but two balt's that need to be serviced for this damn switch.

Yea i hate goin to my dealer. I got mine done last week and when i dropped it off i told them that i had a reverse lock out mod the was not visible so all the had to do was pull up on the boot and go all the way right and down. When i picked my car up the boot was detached from the console and my cupholder was out so my shift linkages were exposed. Damn retards

Got my letter this last week, still waiting for parts. Honestly not that worried about it, when parts are available I'll get the switch changed out.

Ordered parts on Wednesday before I got my letter in. Not making a fuss about getting a rental. It should be funny bringing my car there with a turbo. While I was making the appointment the poor lady got about 6 calls about it. Then I talked to one guy about how I feel and we agreed it's really not an issue unless your an inexperienced driver.

It's an issue because in the event of a crash the jolt of the crash causes the ignition to shut off thus rendering the car either A) uncontrollable or B) without certain safety equipment. In several cases the airbags never deployed because the car shut down, which raises further questions as to why the airbags did not operate given the fact that they are supposed to have a 60 second backup power supply. As far as inexperienced drivers go, its not how well the person can drive that causes the problem, its the fact that people panic. People like my 57 year old mother who drives very carefully, would panic to the point of having a panic attack in the car if something like this happened to her, were not just talking about the car turning off, were talking about suddenly no power brakes, the steering wheel lock engaging because the key is now no longer in the run position, etc.

Not to mention the fact that these stupid ****** switches are very sticky and sensitive to the key position. Often times when I put my key in it doesnt even want to turn to the start position because the key either goes in too far or doesnt go in far enough. Or when I switch up to park the key will not release and you have to cycle the ignition again.
